330ml bottle from Gordon and McPhail. Nose is light toffee and a hint of raisins. Clear rusty red with a medium beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with a hint of fruitiness. Mediocre for a barleywine but better than most lagers, hence the rating.

On cask @ SRAF. Orange/pink in appearance. Raspberries definitely come through to dominate. More raspberries and some pale malt, though in this sense, the raspberry is not so generous. OK.

Bottle from Mitchell’s Inverurie. It pours clear pink with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, tangy raspberry, candy and Victoria sponge. The taste is crisp, dry, sweet - sour, tangy raspberry, mild fruit acidity, lemon rind and some sticky sweetness. Finish is dry. Light - medium body and moderate carbonation. Really not so bad for a fruit beer. Doesn’t come across artificial which is good. Not bad.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear deep brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is brown bread, warming spice, rivita and toffee. The taste is pretty bitter, spicy, resin, wood, leather, soapy citrus, toffee, light metallic and earth with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Decent rye beer actually.

330ml bottle from a bottle shop somewhere in Edinburgh - Pinky amber body, no head. Nose has a bit of raspberry, but with some citrus notes. Taste has a bit of tartness, but overall nothing lasting in the fruit sector.
