Draft in Carlsbad. A brown beer with a red shine. The aroma has notes of soy sauce and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of soy sauce, and caramel as well as light notes of roasted malt, leading to a soy sauce finish combined with a light note of roasted malt, reminds me of an ice cream topping.

16 oz at Pizza Port Solana Beach. Pour is slight haze golden yellow, pretty much no head whats there is white. Streaking carbonation. Aroma of honey, straw, and some soft earthiness. Taste is the honey sweetness, followed by some toasty maltiness and finishes with floral hops. There is some dusty chemical straw thing to the finish which detracts a bit. Palate is light to medium, a little mouth coating with a honey sweet and mild cardboard finish. Nice and drinkable, though falls apart a little in the end.

14 oz draft pour at the Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens in Escondido, California. Pour is clear golden copper with a smallish white head. Small bubbly carbonation visible. Fair amount of lacing. Aroma of resin grainy dank hoppiness. Very catty, fresh and big. Some earthy malt in the back. Taste is more of the dank, catty, bitter hops slightly sweet straw grassiness, caramel maltiness, toasty - nice balance between hop and malt, more than I expected from the nose. Palate is medium, dry and crisp. Finish lingers a bit with some evident alcohol heat. Nice one.

Draft in Carlsbad. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, roasted malt, and caramel, as well as lighter notes of alcohol and whiskey. The flavor is sweet matly combined with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and coffee, the latter lending it a good bitterness. The alcohol burns lightly on the tongue.
