Draught Hazy lemon yellow with a very small white head. Lemon & Brett is what I get for nose. Extremely phenolic taste, "wet floormop" variety. Vaguely citrussy, but not really acidic in any way. Not very-well bodied, but it has a definite grist slickness. Extremely interesting, I’m sure, but I’m totally disappointed, as this was such a cultbeer on the Net. I cannot understand what they’re doing in Cooperstown - Hedwig - some consulting, maybe?

Same rating for cave aged and not. Pours mahogany into a tulip. Well retained, medium-sized head. Cherry and bread notes. Full with spicy cherry/vanilla and fig flavors. A dry, lingering hay finish. "Burgundian" is a very good descriptor.

This was a delightful quadrupel that seemed to reveal different tastes the further I got into it. The pour was dark copper with an off-white head that formed a nice ring. The aroma was filled with sugars, ripe plums, bananas and a tinge of alcohol. The flavor was fruity — prunes and plums — with a slightly woody taste. There were also some notes of pepper from the alcohol and bit of spice though it’s more sweet than spicy. Moderate carbonation offered a clean mouthfeel and a clean finish with a tad of stickiness.

Sample at Whole Foods Market. Hazy straw color with a thin, frothy white head. Minimal lacing. Light spice and zesty citrus aroma. The mouthfeel is light and dry with a good amount of citrus but not too much spice flavor. The finish is airy short with more citrus and a bit of coriander. Light and refreshing, and maybe a little boring but above average.

750 bottle - Pours up a huge head, nice, slightly hazy straw color. Citrus is apparent in the pleasant aroma and some yeast. The flavor hits with some sweet malts followed quickly by the citrus and subdued spice. Palate is kind of bubbly, not too thin and avoids being too thin. Initially I thought this brew was a bit too sour for my taste, but soon it seemed just right. The finish has some mild bitterness and lingers awhile. This is the second variety of Ommegang ale that I’ve tried, and I’m impressed with their quality Belgian ale at very affordable prices.

Draft. Golden with tightly-bubbled white head. Soft on the palate with a prickly fizziness. The aroma is spicy (clove and orainder) and the flavor is sweet and spicy — there’s vanilla and a hint of orange. The follow-through is a bit tart. Quite enjoyable.
