Description
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

Bottle. Malt and pumpkin aroma - hints of spice - cinnamon, allspice. Medium amber color with small head. Pumpkin bread flavor - low carbonation with a strange mixture of vegetable and hops to finish. Not bad - on the weak side with little spiciness to it.

Slight crushed slag gravelly aroma. Poored hazy light yellow in my steelers glass. Background citrus bite with nice carbonation. No bitter finish. Decent, but not quite as good as other belgian wits. Does not seem as refined. I also had this on tap at the North Park Deck House in Robinson township. Did not seem as good on tap.

Pour is a copper with a white head. Aroma is hard to detect, some cornyness is all. Flavor is totaly weak. No real pumpkin, cinnamon or nutmeg to speak of. Much better pumpkin beers out there that actually taste like pumpkin. Glad I only bought a single.

Bright amber colour. Light tan head. Mildly spicy, somewhat boring caramel/toast malt nose. Fairly watery, mainly a caramel taste. Light spice (nutmeg) note. Pretty quick finish. Maybe a bit thin on the body.

This brew pours a very pretty hazy copper color with a medium light tan head with good retention. Thin, stringy lacing. The aroma is kind of weird, with pumpkin and other vegetables in the forefront, as well as a bit of spice. Light-bodied with mild pumpkin and malt flavor. The flavor is kind of off, and the pumpkin disappears pretty quickly, leaving a fairly bland lager flavor in its wake. The finish is mildly sweet and short. Could be better.

Bottle: Nice amber color with relatively no head. Flavor is very mild of malt, caramel, some spices, and a bit of toasted malts. Pumpkin may have been present, but I couldn’t quite get there. It was more of the spices associated with pumpkin pie than any pumpkin itself.

12oz Bottle Pours out an amber topped with a off white head. Pour aroma to go with a pour tast. Not much of any pumpkin to this one.

On tap. Hazy yellowish in color with white head. An orange wedge was dropped in it by the bartender. I think the orange over powered what little beer aroma and flavor there may have been here. I smell a bit of malt and something sour behind the smell of the orange. Obviously there is a fresh citrus flavor and that was about all I could taste. Might be the slightest hint of yeast in there. This beer is way too light in flavor and aroma to overcome an orange wedge. Disappointing product. Not something I plan to try again with or without the orange wedge. How this tastless beer won any award is well beyond my level of understanding? Therefore I need to lower my overall a bit more. An orange wedge in ice water is a better choice here.
