Fresh, fruity and hoppy pale ale. Smells and tastes delicious. The citra hops really shine in this one.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled 12/03/13, from Slijterij Wijnhandel Acht Zaligheden, Maastricht, 20131018) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized, dense and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts, liquorice, chocolate and piny hops. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, burnt malts, pine, mildly liquorice, some ash and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy, burnt and bitter and finally hoppy. Aroma was really nice but the taste was too burnt until the final surprising hop bite.

Hoppy and malty, with a sharp bitter mouthfeel. Nice, but I would like some more depth.

Bottle my father got me from bierkoning in Amsterdam. Many thanks! Also my 2000th rating. I considered rating a Prairie saison or an All in brewing / Beerbliotek collaboration as my rating 2000 but a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout never goes wrong, no? pours reddish black dark wooden brown with a rather small dark reddish mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is malty and boozy with roasted malts, vanilla fudge, bourbon, high quality dark chocolate, salty liquorice candy, alcohol, burnt cookies, caramel, charred wood, heavily roasted almost burnt nuts, liquorice fudge, moist soil, coffee grounds and hints of raisins and dates. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, malty, boozy and tiny fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, salty liquorice candy, vanilla fudge, burnt cookies, burnt caramel, bitter chocolate, charred wood, bourbon, moist soil, graham crackers, sweet liquorice candy and hints of smoke, burnt raisins, dates and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, boozy, tiny roasted astringent and near full bodied. Finish is bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, burnt cookies, charred wood, vanilla fudge, sweet liquorice candy, cocoa powder, bourbon, roasted nuts and moist soil. Very tasty but for some reason I had hoped for more. Still very tasty though, don’t forget that. So that’s 2000... Cheers! And thank you all who’ve helped me this far.

Tap at Borefts ’13, 27/09/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a small off white head. Nose is floral hops, peach, orange. Taste comprises caramel malt, floral hops, orange pith, light pine, touch of honey. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in a dryish finale. Decent enough DIPA.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Clear very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is extremely heavy coffee and everything else is overpowered. Flavor is medium sweet and light acidic. Dry and light acidic finish. Not a fan of cold and light acidic coffee. 111013
