Bottle sample at In de Wildeman, at Rooie Dop tasting, cheers guys! Black colour, thin beige head. Aroma reminded me a lot of Bells Expedition Stout, too bad I wasn’t the biggest fan of that beer, but as most people are I guess it’s a compliment ;-) Rather alcoholic aroma, vodka, veggies, hard roasted malts, espresso, bitter chocolate. Flavour is bitter, hard roasted malts, espresso, bitter chocolate, vodka, towards the finish moccha and more subtle roasted flavours come out, firm bitter grassy hoppy finish. Medium bodied. As one of the brewers said, it lacks a bit of sweetness and was very young. Have to buy a bottle soon, re-rate is pending. Not a fan yet...

On tap at In de Wildeman, at Rooie Dop tasting. Nice job guys, congrats with your first professional brews! Hazy orange-amber colour, rocky and frothy off white head. Aroma is very fruity, oranges, clementines, some candy, light citrus hops, light malty, hint of plastic, all somewhat subdued. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, fruity, clementines, some tropical fruits, all very mellow at first but becomes increasingly more bitter after the finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle from Burg Bieren. Was very curious about how this one would turn out. Black colour, thin brown head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, oats, cacao, slight sourness. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, slight hop bitterness upfront, followed by chewy oats and a medium bodied, fairly dry and slightly bitter palate. Fairly bitter and a slightly alcoholic finish. Very enjoyable!

Bottle from Burg Bieren. Was really looking forward to this one. Pours a hazy dark orange coloured beer with an off-white head. Nose is initially grapefruits, oranges, slightly floral. Flavour is grapefruits and oranges. Crisp and dry, fairly bitter. Medium carbonation. Fairly bitter and slightly dry finish. Really well done.
