Description
Ridgeway Brewing was established in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey (former head brewer at Brakspear) and his wife Vanda. The name comes from the ancient trade route that winds its way through English countryside between small towns. It has been around for thousands of years, adapting with the changing times, The reason why we chose the name Ridgeway, apart from living on it, was that we hope to create lasting experiences, believe in the long term and love the outdoors.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear brown with small off white head. This one tuned out to be quite a sweet brown ale but enough bitterness to balance. Notes of brown sugar, toasted malt, caramel, nuts, hint of mixed dried fruit, light floral hopping. Medium bodied with a crisp bite to it. Much better than I was expecting, enjoyed it.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, online. Pours a clear dark gold, small foamy soap-sud white head, some retention. Aroma of biscuit malts, flora, orange zest and grass. Taste has a floral resinous quality to it but to be fair has some fruitiness and citrus zest, light toastiness in the finish. Fairly bitter throughout. Nice fairly slick medium bodied mouthfeel with a fine carbonation. Good.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Pours a deep clear amber-brown with small off-white head. Aroma of roast, damp cardboard, toffee. Taste is sweet with toffee, roast, alcohol, bread, mixed dried fruit. Medium bodied and slightly chewy. It does what it says on the bottle. Its rich with warming malt notes and a minor alcohol kick although not particularly complex. I enjoyed it though!
