Bottle [thanks to jmgreenuk] @ home. Nice red color, full sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is a bit sourish and so is the taste. Don’t think that’s intended is it? Average body and carbonation. In the beginning it tastes a bit off and maybe it is, but after a while you kind of get used to it and it’s actually quite decent.

8th Feb 2014: hand-pulled pint in the brewery after a tour around: one of three beers available in cask form on the day. Black with a good beige head on top. Roasted malt nose with both chocolate and ground coffee esters within. The taste follows along with the coffee and chocolate flavours ruling the mouth. The finish is semi-bitter and dryish. Good if basic brew.

8th Feb 2014: hand-pulled pint in the brewery after a tour around: one of three beers available in cask form on the day. Clear golden body with a white fluffy head. Floral and fruity nose, subtle more than full on. The taste is also a delicate flavouring of light malts and semi-bittering hops. I’d have liked more depth and robustness, but this is not that sort of brew and I suppose I should embrace the understatedness of the beer. Medium bodied, but just a tad too sophisticated for my palate.

Hand-pulled pint in the brewery after a tour around on 8th Feb 2014: one of three beers available in cask form on the day. Golden to light amber body, clear and clean looking, on top a white covering of bubbles. Hop lead in the nose, mild citrus front with floral finish. The taste is also on the hoppy side, malty undertone, but the hops rule the flavours as in the aroma. Medium bodied and obviously fresh, a very easy drinking beer with enough about it to please me.

Bottle from Bernie’s, Solihull. Poured a clear straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is big citrus fruit, light yeast. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth fruity light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. A great session golden ale and not too dissimilar to the Complete Muppetrry.

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a thin off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, burnt caramel a little resin and weak liqourice. The flavour is weak bitter with a medium bodied palate. One of the best milds I’ve ever had but I’d like to see a touch more life. Super for a session.

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is rich and fruity with malt yeast and liqourice. It reminds me of the Tooty Fruities I once had as a kid! The flavour is medium bitter with a medium bodied smooth malty palate and a short bitter finish. The last time I had this was at the brewery and it’s as drinkable now as it was then!

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. At least the inside of the bottle looks better than the outside. Aroma is liquorice, beef and cola. Taste has lots of liquorice with blackcurrant and cola on the finish.
