Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores Goring-on-Thames, consumed at home Sunday 29th July 2012 Pours very dark brown, nearly black with a light beige head. Really tangy the whisky cask ageing shows but adds little. Drinks easier than 7.5%. Roasty with a little salty liquorice, ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask-conditioned and unfined at the Three Tuns, Bristol 25/07/2012. Clear gold in colour with a decent, white head. Light aroma of grapefruit with some grassy hops. Flavour had sweetish fruit, cereal malts and a lingering bitter finish. Fine.

Bottle at Bruce’s Housewarming Tasting. It pours deep dark brown, with pretty much no head. The nose is caramel, chocolate, fudge, vanilla, wood, marzipan and lactose. The taste is roasted malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, tangy, acidic, dark fruit, lactose and caramel. Intense flavour. Medium body and low/no carbonation. Big on flavour, but I still can’t decide whether I truly like it or not...

The taste is dark fruit, cherry, blueberry, raisin, tanginess, red grape, roasted malt and jam, with a tangy, slightly tart finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Flavoursome whether it was meant to be this way or not.

Shared bottle at local tasting. ABV is 11%. Black colour, minimal beige head.
Dryish aroma, notes of cold coffee, unsweetened cocoa and ashes. The flavour, however, is not dry - rather sweet actually, with notes of chocolate / cocoa and sweetened coffee, vinous finish.

Cloudy amber beer, nice creamy tan head. Light dry palate. Tea like malt, a little creamy. Aromatic hops - a little grassy and with a touch of lemon and grapefruit citrus. Finishes slightly soft. Okay but doesn’t really sing.

Cask at CP&K. It pours very dark brown, with a thin off-white film. The nose is chocolate, caramel, rich coffee and roasted malt. The taste is dark fruit, caramel, liquorice, roasted malt, charcoal, chocolate, touch of tang, coffee and burnt notes, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Full flavour and good balance. Solid.
