Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours black with a frothy and creamy beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is salty and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, salty liquorice candy, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, charred wood and hay. taste is bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark bread, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, salty liquorice candy, burnt cereal, charred wood and hay. Mouthfeel is round, tiny roasted astringent, tiny roasted tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark bread, bitter chocolate, dark roast coffee, liquorice and hay. Very drinkable and tasty...

Bottle picked up from ’Jacks’, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon 20th November 2013 consumed at home Thursday 28th November 2013 Pours light/mid amber very slight haziness. Reasonable bitter with a tangy bite, however there is a very slight butteryness. Soft in the mouth, this is certainly citrussy in with a zestyness bit of chewy caramel, its good but just needs tidying up a little. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle shared by Colin at Dadsgiving. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose and taste of resin, pine, grain, grapefruit pith and dry toast. Dry finish. Lighter medium body.

Clear golden-amber color, steady white head. Hay and print paper in the nose. Light bodied, watery bodied. Light grassy hoppyness, light woody notes. Not much going on.

Clear golden color, small white head. Strong diacetylic butterscotch aroma. Medium-bodied. Crisp carbonation. Diacetyl is not so bad in the flavor, but it is there. Slightly wheaty, light hoppyness in the finish. Because of diacetyl, it is not easy to see if this has potential. My first one from By The Horns brewery.

330ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, diminishing, moderately lacing, white head. Caramel malty aroma, piney hoppy overtones, some orange, some biscuit. Taste is dry hoppy, piney, minimally grassy, tannic, hints of nutshells, caramel malty basis.

Cask at the 16th Egham Beer Festival at 5.3% ABV. Black with an amber glow and a translucent head; vegetable aroma; black treacle taste with some lurking stewed vegetables; and vegetable bitterness that leads to a lingering, sweetish finish. Not my kind of thing.

Keg at CBC clerkenwell. Sroma is lager yeast and straw and a touch of smoke? Light yellow straw colour with a small white head. Flavour is clean straw / hay malt profile. Still get a bit of smoked malt in the flavour a bit odd. Nice enough. Good to see some craft lagers on the London scene.

Bottle 330ml. @ [ (chriso Pre-GBBF Shindig) by chriso - London ]. [ As By The Horns Black and White IPA ].ABV: 6.2%. Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, grapefruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, licorice hops, hoppy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Nice ;0) [20130810]
