Dark brown with a thin, brown head. burnt brown sugar, malts, molasses, some smoke and nuts. Medium body. The flavor is full of roasted malts, with the molasses, brown sugar, and citrus hops rounding out this brown. Solid and easy to drink. Wouldn’t search this one out, but wouldn’t turn it down, either.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Hazy, dark brown with a tint of orange and a small, off-white head. Burned and lightly smoked aroma with some nuttiness. Medium body with lightly sweet and burned malt accents and a whiff of nuts. The finish is dry with a subdued bitterness. 170108

Draft. Blackish beer with a dark cream colored head. Light whiskey aroma with malt and caramel. Whiskey, vanilla, caramel malt flavor with backing hops. Medium body. Lingering vanilla, malt, whiskey, light oak. Nice. Well balanced barrel aged beer. Nothing overpowering.

Draft. Mahogony beer with a light tan head. Light citrus hop aroma with shiskey and caramel. Light citrus (orange, grapefruit) flavor with whiskey, caramel, and vanilla. Lingering malt, caramel, oak, and vanilla. Medium body. Hop bitterness lingers and almost clashes with whiskey barrel notes.

Dark mahogany color. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, wet soil. The mouthfeel is quite dry, with a strong dark caramel taste and some roasted and chocolate malt. Bitter but without hop quality. Unimpressive.

Here is normally where I would bitch about the poor quality of hebrew beers, and curse myself for shelling out the money for trying yet another adjunct-laden piece of garbage - however, this is not the case with this one - is it a great beer? - hell no - but it has its moments - it’s a tad bit sweet, but it has a nice bitter quality to it, with some earthy, almost tobacco-like notes - notes of dried cherries, herbs, brown sugar - hazelnut and maple syrup - some leathery and woody qualities - given the typically one-dimensional quality to these beers, this is surprisingly complex - however, that apparent swaltz corn-syrup sweetness does eventually permeate every other aspect of the beer - still, not that bad - that is, sadly, an accomplishment for these guys - they should stick to the lower-grav beers (ie. coney island lager).

Pour is a reddish brown with a large tan head. Aroma is dark fruit with a big strong dose of chocolate malts. Flavor is again over the top malts with a nice hop backbone. Some dark fruit and caramel linger after the swallow. This is a very heavy and thick beer, it will take you awhile to get this one down but it is very tasty and worth looking for.

Bottle. Pour is a dark brown with a smallish head that dies out quickly. Aromas are sweet... brown sugar with a touch of dried fruit. Flavor is heavily reliant on roasted malt with a touch of coffee and nut notes. Not really interesting, but not horrible, by any stretch of the imagination.

From can, no 21 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours dark brown and slight reddish hue and a light chocolate brown head. Dried fruity aroma, slight chalky and with a smooth chocolate note. Solid chocolate flavoured and roasted malty. Sweet finish lingering into the finish with a chocolate malt flavoured smoothness.
