Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours really dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma is dark treacle, dark fruit, enough alcohol to fry the olfactory nerve, and something that makes me think of rum. (Love rum) Full bodied. Flavor is very dark treacle, very dark fruit, heat which hardly burns at all, and some flavor complexity I can’t seem to parse. My mind is awhirl "with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives." This stuff is like love; it’s destructive to focus on minute details. Just go with it. Great ale. These brewers are məšuggā’. Lucky us!

I kind of like this; pretty good drinking beer. Aroma is pretty straightforward basic malt toffee caramel. Flavor has a lot more going on with just the right amount of carbonation and bitterness to balance the sweet some boosyness in the background, satisfying.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Raisin, plum and molasses aromas. Thick with molasses and clove upfront turning to dark caramel covered dried fruit and chocolate before the lasting, warming bitter root finish.

Taste comprises brown sugar, toffee, spice, burnt notes, molasses, big fruit cake. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok strong .. a touch harsh at times but an ok sipperoo.

Bottle care of Leighton, at level. It pours pretty opaque black with a medium tan head. The aroma is rich, filthy, liquorice, treacle, vanilla, cake chocolate, dark fruits, Horlicks and frangelico. The taste is rich, filthy, roasted malt, toasty, coffee, malt loaf, toasted nut, some boost, wood, earthy and spice with a warm, boosty finish. Full body and moderately, foamy carbonation. Not so much depth to . Not bad.
