So, a beer near 6% is a session, heheheh. Permeating aroma. As soon as I tasted it I knew it was more than 6%. Big strong rude initial dull hop bite knocks my taste buds back like strong wind on a field of wheat. Uhg Uhg Ugly whitch with a brass brazeer. Does surprizingly have some sizzle, but still mouth coating. Shade of chewing old inner tube rock my world. Finish nags like a older sister who is really pissed off at you. Lots of unique difficult hops in this breathtaking brew, wew. Terribly on style, could pas for a double IPA - session it is not. Big thanks to nike for ripping up my lager loven palate just one more bitter ass time. Is it possible this rating is in the wrong place? Styled an APA - HAH HAH!! Humor totally makes my day.

Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 04/11/12. Lightly hazed amber with a big off white head that soon thins. Nose comprises malts, toffee, dark berry fruit, sugared candy, orange peel and spice. Taste follows nose with toffee, fruit loaf, fruits, raisens, dates. Medium bodied with a punch and fine carbonation.

Draught@Oliver Twist, Stockholm (old backlog). Amber colour, small off-white creamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, toffee, some fruity and floral hoppyness along with mild parfumeish notes. Flavour is zesty, toffeeish, caramelly and quite nice grassy and floral bitterness in the finish.

On tap at GABF. Pours a dark brown color with a grey head. A big nose of chocolates and sweet candies. A very dry flavor with toffee, candies, plum, sweet molasses, heat, very big. Worked for me. Not really syrupy, light carbonation. A bit like a massive barley wine. Good.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating(2008 release). Pours very hazy very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of raisin, prune, fig, molasses, toast, bread, caramel, herbal, earth, toffee, nuttiness, and chocolate. Nice and pleasantly balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, molasses, raisin, fig, chocolate, toffee, nuttiness, earth, and herbal. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, dark fruit, molasses, toast, chocolate, toffee, earth, nuttiness, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; minimal cloying sweetness present on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice doppelbock/dubbel hybrid brew. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 10/24/12

Aroma: The nose is a little bready, it some caramel malts, pine, and earthy hops
Appearance: It pours a caramel color with a small off-white head and a coating spotty lacing
Flavor: The taste is balanced between the bread/caramel and earth, it is lightly sweet and lightly hoppy
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a pretty decent drinkability, and a lightly dry finish to it
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a very solid APA or Amber or whatever you want to call it. It works well as a Session (even though its 5.6%). I'd drink this again.

Poured up on tap at Euclid Hall in Denver with a kind of murky mahogany body supporting a micro thin ring of tan foam. The aroma is big and bruising with molasses, brown sugar stewed prunes and vanilla with a good bit of booze in tow. The taste forces up notes of rich sweet goodness with nectar like molasses and sludgy sweet malts heading into a modest level of vanilla and tequila like boozy notes. Great sipper.

22oz bomber pours a dark mahogany with light mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate covered malt balls, a bit of cinnamon and vanilla and then faint dark fruity esters. The taste is similar with malted chocolate milkshake and some chocolate bar and then a lesser degree of cinnamon and vanilla. Behind these notes I get a touch of sweet dark fruity esters. This comes together very nicely.

This is alright. Smells hoppy, amber colour. Bitter but watery, light on palate and flavour. Session indeed, but that’s just an excuse anyway. Bottle from thirsty and miserable.
