Bouteille 330ml, courtoisie de Jean-Marc G. De couleur brune foncée et transparente. Nez fruité (raisins, léger de cerises, notes de prunes et de figues), malté de caramel toffee sucré, légèrement rôti, terreux et aux notes fumées (tabac), léger de chocolat noir et de réglisse noire avec des notes de houblon terreux et herbeux et de faibles traces boisées et d’alcool liquoreux (whisky). Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement bas et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Goût fruité (raisins aux petites notes vineuses, notes de figues, de prunes et de cerises) avec un léger goût de réglisse noire et de petites notes de fumée de tabac lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté moyennement sucré de caramel toffee légèrement rôti et terreux ainsi qu’un léger goût de chocolat noir (mélangé a des petites notes de mélasse) puis en finale on retrouve une légère-moyenne amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses ainsi que des traces d’alcool liquoreux (whisky) aux notes boisées asséchantes. Post-goût moyen aux notes sèches, léger-moyen amer de houblon herbeux (notes terreuses) avec des notes de rôti et fruitées (moût de raisins) et des traces d’alcool et boisées.

Bottle at home ... brown with a red tinge ... malt nose with a little fruit and some tcp ... lots of fruity malts ... quite sweet ... little caramel ... little meaty ... little rum ... some sour raisins ... rich syrup. Poured clear amber with weak off white head. The aroma just jumps out of the glass when poured. Smells like a load of coriander but it isn’t too bright. That aroma seems to mix with a pronounced raisin note as well as lesser amounts of dark chocolate and something vaguely smoky. Interesting flavor with the smooth coriander, a bag full of raisins, dried plums, dark chocolate and hints of smoke. Certainly an interesting combination.

Deep brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is dark fruits, wine, cherries, caramel, and a litle alcohol. Smooth mouth. Flavor is very fun/unique. Coriander, caramel, cherries, dark fruits, and some malt. Finishes dry with a little biterness. Not much else like it, very enjoyable.

Bottle picked up from Evesham farm shop, 28-05-07, best before date of May 2016. Poured very dark ruby colour some carbonation but very little head. Had this after the Traquair House Jacobite and whilst another great beer it wasn’t quite in the same class as it was a little rougher and far less refined that the Jacobite. Rich fruity and nutty aroma tasted a bit like a Barley Wine but not quite as sticky. Some warming alcohol notes and tastes not as well disguised as they were in the Jacobite, finishes well and despite the sweetness there was some malts and bitterness. Very very good beer.
