Bottiglia: really very dark amber coloured, some reddish sparks visible, small tanned foamy layer, sweetish coffeeish-roasty nose, moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; slightly lingering and a bit drier roasty-coffeish finish. Not bad, but way too sweet…

Weich herb und röstig malziger Antrunk. Die Röstigkeit steigt nur leicht, deutliche Kaffeenoten sind präsent. Bitterschokokade, harmonisch, zum Ende schwächer. Würzig, süffig, gut. 8/11/11/12/12/12

330ml bottle. Clear dark amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Caramel malty aroma with a fruity touch of red berries and cautious bitter hoppy overtones. Taste is dry fruity, hints of red berries and fruit parings, metallic echoes.

Aroma: Rich coffee and dark chocolate.
Appearance: Jet black body with a medium tan head. Good lacing.
Taste: Unlike previous raters, I found this to have quite a harsh bitterness (to be fair, the previous rate was from eight months ago...) Dark chocolate and espresso (living up to its name). Strong flavours but not the smoothest blend/balance.
Palate: Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Flat carbonation.
Overall: As a Stout, it’s extremely rich, bitter and flavoursome. The balance isn’t quite there though and so it’s not very moreish (after half a pint, I’d almost had enough).

Black, ruby edges in glass, thin tan head
Aroma of sweet dark malts, plain chocolate, soft coffee, quite a lot of cocoa
Taste- Dark roased malt, dark sugars, odd hint of rubber, then the mouthfeel collapses in the middle, watery, bland, vegetal notes, hints of tcp, hints of dirt, poor flavour - an utter total mess
Palate - Far too thin for a stout, some smoothness initially but then a watery middle with no body. Finish is rapid and dull
Overall - The aroma was pretty good, but the taste was very poor and the body was watery. With rich ingredients as used make a stout, it should be a highlight beer from the brewery - but I have no idea how TSA could mess this up so badly. I’m not wasting my money on beer from this lousy brewery in the future......

Taste of soft fruity pale malt, apricot, soft citrus fruit, bit creamy light pale malt, little dull
Palate - Thinnish body, some oiliness though so the body is ok for the abv, soft light sweet fruity palate. Finish as main flavour, pale bit oily malt with some apricot.
Overall - This is a step in the right direction - it’s only bit above average, not ’amazing’ . Surprised not to have another poor beer from this brewery

Finally breeched the Aldi bought 500ml bottle: best before Jun 2013, it was shared with a friend on 15 Feb 2013 during a random tasting evening at home. Mid-brown, bordering on amber in colour: a thin white head sat on each half-pint glass. Malts first and foremost: sweet molasses taking over the smell and taste. Caramel and butterscotch notes make this one sweet beer. The hops can’t hold the malty strengths and although this isn’t sickly in any way: it certainly isn’t a hoppy brew, nutty notes and hints of wood about, but mostly malts. A little unbalanced: but I like sweet malty brews, so it was OK with me.
