Cask handpull at Victoria Spoons. Clear pale gold lasting white collar of bubbles. It’s a golden ale. Bit watery in the mouth some vague citrus grassy hop. Not much of a finish. Nothing horrible in the limited flavour just not much of anything.

500ml bottle at home. Pours clear gold with a thin white head, which quickly goes. Smells like a bitter! Cereal grains and grassy, floral hops. Touch of honey. Taste has more honey sweetness and a levelling amount of bitterness, which gets soapy part way through. Slightly thin and fizzy. Slight astringency on the finish. OK.

500ml bottle at home. Pours medium brown with a thin, short-lived head. Aromas of raisin, toffee and caramel with malt. Touch of hops comes through later. Taste is too sweet, not enough balance. Bit sticky on the texture. Long, sweet finish. OK.

Cask @ GBBF 2013. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee aroma. Roasted malty coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty coffee and chocolate finish.

330ml bottle: BBD Feb 2014, poured into a Gordon’s Thistle shaped glass on 30 Aug 2013. Exceedingly dark body with a full but fairly thin tanned head. Intense rich coffee aroma and taste, as you’d expect by the name on the bottle. Dark chocolate and cocoa flavours vie with the coffee to give a smell and flavour very similar to a Greek ’Frappe’ without any milk. Not as creamy and rich in texture as the nose suggested, the body depth being my only negative thought on the brew. Both interesting and worth finding (if you like coffee).

Bottle purchased from Tesco in Watford. Looks very appealing; wonderful pitch black and with an off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and although it nice burnt notes, those are pushed to the back. Taste is similarly saccharine in my opinion. Disappointing, but I just can’t ever get into sweet stouts.

Bottle 500ml. [ BBF JUNE-2014]. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, toffee - fudge - butter. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, earthy malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130123]

(Bottle) Lively golden beer. Head quickly disappeared. Fruity aroma. Taste is a slightly sour one with a very faint edge of hop. It’s a bit bland and watery to be honest.
