Description
The process of brewing beer hasn’t changed much since we started back in 1777. And neither has our unique approach to crafting characterful beer. But our equipment most certainly has.
Our state-of-the-art, independent, family-owned brewery now stands proudly alongside our old brewery on the banks of the River Stour in Blandford, Dorset. Using the finest ingredients and over 240 years of expertise, our brewers create beer that brims with flavour.

Rerate, 500 ml brown bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.4%. Clear and reddish brown colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brittle, burnt breadcrumbs and earthy hops, hints of forest, moss and dark berries. The flavour has again malts, caramel and burnt breadcrumbs, followed by earthy hops. Bitter and roasty aftertaste. I'm upping the score a little.
Original rating, June 2007: 500 ml bottle, from the fridge (= too cold) at Arnie’s Coffee Bar / Bistro, Whitby. ABV was 4.4%. Brown colour, fizzy, minimal head. Reasonably hoppy aroma with some "boiled" malty notes. Brown ale flavour, some caramel and toffee.

Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 07/03/24. Almost clear golden to light amber with an off white cap that retains as a swirl. Nose is passionfruit, light tropical fruit esters, grass, melon, sweet tones. Taste comprises much the same, mango, fruit syrup, grass, sugars, orange peel, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with modest hop bitterness. Passable fayre ... comes over tasting of overly sweet tropical fruit adjuncts like a formulaic DIY home brew kit for an IPA.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Aberystwyth. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, roasty, sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, lactose, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

tan head, very dark brown A - milky coffee/cappuccino with extra caramel/vanilla added T - similar to aroma, it got better as it warmed up a bit. When cold there was maybe a bit too much toffee/caramel for my liking, but as it warmed the bitternes seemed to come though a bit more and make it slightly less cloying quite highly carbonated for a stout
