Backlog August 2013. Unclear orange body under an off-white head. Aroma is malty with fruit and slightly acidic red berries. Taste is sweet malt, fruity, nice bitterness and spicy Belgium yeast. Medium body and same aftertaste. Easy likable and easy drinkable.

After the work, late at night, it was a right option to drink it and going to sleep. The alcohol is well hidden, smooth at the palate, malty with a present side of apricot and honey. This one is more a tripel than an American Barley wine. 06.12.2020

Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Huge annoying gusher, took forever to pour. Aroma is grassy with green tea, lemongrass, soft hops, herbal and peppery notes, grainy malt. Flavour is moderate to medium bitter. Body is light and a bit too heavy on the carbonation. Not nearly as watery as I expected considering the abv. Overall pretty good, too heavily carbonated but a nice grassy hoppy lemongrass aroma.

Aged sample Good, receding off-white head over lively carbonated orange-ochre beer. Blossoms, orange blossom water, but also oxydation, old clothes, peardrops. Really oxydized flavour, oxydized malts, lightstruck too, I fear. Old clothes, biscuit. Very light acidity that might be pear-related. Medium bodied, even a bit chewy, creamy texture, well-carbonated. Sainte Hélène has died. Her remains tend to prove so. Txs to Stef!
