Description
We are a new microbrewery based in the village of Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds. Our brewery is a small 200L system, set up in a converted shipping container on our family farm.

Run part-time by husband and wife team, James and Kat, Artefact Brewing’s ethos is to make good-quality, small-batch, artisan craft beers, with an emphasis on experimenting with local ingredients and seasonal releases. Artefact launched in May 2020.

29/3/2025. Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear dark red brown with a small frothy/creamy off-white head. Aroma is winter spiced, christmas cake, dried fruits, bread, toast, malt. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, hint of mincemeat sour. Medium body, smooth, average carbonation. Mince pie finish. Enjoyable.

7/2/2025. Cask at the 15th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours clear copper amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, biscuit, caramel, sweet malts, leafy, orange. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Smooth with soft carbonation. A very good ESB.

Sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers. Aroma is floral, caramel, pine/grass and yeast. Taste is very alcoholic, almost like wine, a touch spicy and caramelised banana. Nice.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers! Aroma of chocolate, caramel, nuts vanilla and liquorice. Taste is chocolatey, ashy, dried fruits and vanilla, Smooth and long finish. Enjoyed this.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers. Aroma is full of earl grey tea, floral, subtle herbs and a touch of vanilla. The tea flavour comes through on the taste, slightly bitter with hints of citrus. Really enjoyed this.

Keg at Briarbank’s 2024 Summer Beer Festival with Grumbo and ITFCDan. Aroma is tropical fruit, dank, rubbery, stone fruit and fruity. Creamy with good body and bitter finish.

23/8/2024. Keg at Briarbank’s 2024 Summer Beer Festival. Pours cloudy yellow gold with a small frothy white head. Aroma is orange, tropical fruits, dank hop, rubbery pine. Medium sweetness, bitterness and body. Quite smooth, soft carbonation. Well done.

330ml bottle @ final beer tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 24. Pours misty pale brown, not much head remaining. Unsure what pastry this is aiming to be. Strange swirls of caramel latte, vanilla, Chantilly cream, dried apricot, amber malt, demarara sugar, but not quite coming together in a seemless manner, light bodied. Not digging this.
