Description
Arthur Van den Bossche founded the brewery in 1897. After his death in 1925, Elenora Callebaut, Arthur's wife and daughter of the Callebaut brewers and chocolatiers family, continued the brewery. In 1935 Willy and Mark Van den Bossche, the 2nd generation, take the helm and further expand the brewery. Ignace son of Mark Van den Bossche, 3rd generation, becomes active in the brewery in 1976. In 2015 Bruno Van den Bossche takes over the brewery from his father. The 4th generation is now taking the lead.

Clear bright yellow appearance. Aroma of sweet malt and sugary fruit. Very clean and fresh tasteLight yeast in the flavour. Not an overly sweet Tripel so nice and easy to drink.

Sampled @ Zythos Bierfestival 2015 Klare dunkel orangebraune Farbe, ordentliche leicht beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Karamell, Schokolade und Vanille. Geschmack nach viel Karamell, schokoladig, Vanille, holzig.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is overripe fruity. Dark malty, fruity, toasted and caramelish. Dry and roasted. Bitter and toasted malty. Bitter and toasted finish.

12/04/2015 @home, 75cl bottle from trade (good untill 13/04/2015) Light brown. First pour had no head, second had a nice light tanned head. Aroma : oak, wine, malts. Taste : oak, wine, light burned matls, light licorice, light sweetness & some sour too. Just a bit too much wine taste

330ml bottle from apivo.ru. Pours cloudy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is yeast, wheat, coriander. Good stuff.

rood/bruin met minimale kaki kraag. aroma van caramel en veel héél veel donker fruit. smaken zijn redelijk zoetig, veel donkere fruiten, wat caramel, iets koffie en geroosterde mout. Nou niet echt een typische Stout, eerder qua fruitigheid en zoetigheid neigende naar een bock maar dan één met koffie en wat geroosterde mout. er zit wel smaak in... mwah

Zwart bier met veel schuim. Smaak is zoet en krachtig, chokolade, caramel en ietwat anijs, verder lichte citrus. Goed bier, helaas iets te waterig, wat redelijk lang blijft hangen.

Tap @ Weeshuis Schiedam, medium sample. Clear yellow to golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of grassy hop, slight spicy and peppery yeast. Quite bitter for a belgian tripel style beer. Going towards Duvel and Westmalle Tripel, and that’s a compliment. Quite tasty in its grassy and flowery bitterness.

Aroma: Citrus, yeast, malt, fruit, some alcohol.
Body: Medium body, quite lively carbonation.
Flavour: Malt, sugar, caramel, fruit.
