Coffee and grass nose with tart apple overtones. Mahogany, medium tan head, decent lacing. Bark, thistle, coffee, sourwood, and moss flavor. Fizzy mouthfeel, astringent, alcohol more noticeable upon warming. Very earthy and robust. Full of rustic flavor and complexity.

Growler received in trade from GPHarris thanks for the opportunity. Pours a dark brown bordering on black with a thinnish off white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of freshly roasted coffee, milk chocolate, roasted grains and a earthy bitterness. Taste is roasty chocolaty smooth with lots of coffee. Earthy bitterness mixed with a roasted grain bitterness and a drying coffee component round out the finish. Smooth creamy bordering on grainy mouthfeel, light level of carbonation, medium body. This is a great easy drinking coffee stout. The coffee is not to harsh and the oats round out the drying affects of it quite nicely. Great brew. I lost about an 1/8 of the growler and a good bit of the carbonation in transit, but the beer itself is still really good. Maybe one day I will try it at the source.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Pours a hazy, bright orange with a medium beige head. The aroma is strong citrus and pine hops, with a bit of grain and malt behind. The flavor is very bitter throughout, with little malt balance. The palate is medium to heavy, astringent and acidic, and leaves a long bitter aftertaste. Overall, this is a better and more complex version of the Good People IPA, with all the abruptness of a west coast IPA.

12 oz. can. Pours a dark gold color with a large beige head and lots of lacing. The aroma is grapefruit and fresh cut pine, with some grassy notes. The flavor is unabashedly bitter, with a hint of malty sweetness just at the beginning. The palate is light to medium, smooth, and acidic. The aftertaste is long and bitter, but not too abrasive. Overall, a solid IPA.

On tap at the Nook. Pours black with minimal head. The aroma is citrus and barnyard must, with an undeniable roasted char smell. The flavor is mellow and light, with the roasted bitterness only breaking through in the finish. The palate is light to medium, smooth and clean. Overall, an interesting beer, but the black malts didn’t work well.

Can pour courtesy of Jeremy. Pours dark copper with explosive tan head. The aroma has mild notes of cherries and lemon. The taste seems improved over what the nose was delivering with some malts, roasted malts, a touch of nuttiness and some faint earthiness too. It ends with some acidity and a lemon/lime like quality.

Growler shared by Jim I believe, thanks! Poured a hazy yellow gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of bitter pine with a slight grain backbone. Flavor was very similar with bitter pine throughout and a slight grain backbone.
