Tasting at Bruce’s. Can thanks to Colin. Opaque dark brown beer, good vibrant tan head. Palate is smooth and airy. Very nice mild carbonation. Malt starts smooth but it has a very unpleasant burned note, I don’t mean roasted, I mean properly burmed, acrid and bitter. Little coffee. Smooth finish. Pretty unpleasant.

Can shared in London - thanks, Colin. Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has strong roast, burnt toast and milk chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavor with sturdy roasted malts, dark bread, light earthy bitterness, further milk chocolate. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish with slight bittersweet cocoa, burnt wood, earth. Nice one.

Can thanks to Colin. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is earthy, toast, candy, caramel, coffee, cocoa and milk chocolate. The taste is toasty, earthy, cocoa, burnt notes, mild acidity, charred wood with a dry, roasty finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Burned.com but the best al tick I’ve had.

Can courtesy of Theydon_Bois. Alabama tick, yey! pours hazy reddish brown with a rather small brownish beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is tiny malty and tiny fruity with dark bread, red apples, hay, lemon zest, frozen green peas and hay. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and slightly malty with dark bread, cereal, red apples, hay and soil. Mouthfeel is soft, round and light to medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with dark bread, red apples, hay and lemon zest. It’s an Alabama tick, yey!

Bottle at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg". Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a round white head. The aroma is weak malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery light nut hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Can at home, thanks to an IP trade with Stuart from AL - you wait all this time for an AL tick/waiting for buses etc! 16/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is bitter orange, toasty malts, peach, straw, faint pine, caramel, hop notes. Taste comprises pithy orange, red grapefruit, light pine, dusty hops, toasted bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in a semi drying close. Fairly simple and clean IPA but ticked all the boxes for me, easy drnker and refreshing stuff after the first grass cut of the year!

Can at home, thanks to an IP trade with Stuart, 15/03/14. Lightly hazed golden amber with a well appointed off white head that retains well. Nose is pale malt, straw, orange, Taste comprises orange pith, light mineral notes, light hop presence, bread dough, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so APA, a pretty basic affair, not much hop presence, clean and easy drinking none the less - it’s a state tick !!!

12 oz. can. Pours a light gold color, with a medium, frothy head and good lacing. The aroma is light hay, some dust and earthy hops, honeysuckle, and just a hint of some hard cheese. The flavor is sweet and fairly bitter, with good balance. Lightly bitter aftertaste that is not unpleasant. Medium body, sticky, and crisp. Overall, this is a nice, refreshing, and approachable beer. Sessionable, but not forgettable.

Can courtesy of trade. Darker in color than most IPA’s, cloudy with a large white head. Nose is of burnt toast and spicy hops. Taste is resin that goes right to the tip of the nose, not very well balanced with the bready malt underneath. Finish is hard and leaves an off taste at the back of the throat.
