Crisp and fairly hazy deep ruby and light brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall off-white and tan head. Aroma of deeper toasted malts, some graininess, a lot of sugars from caramel and toffee and a subdued bitterness from hops, but the other notes show stronger in the nose. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty and very rustic, toasted malt notes show at first with a lot of bitterness from some metallic notes, but then the lighter alpha acids from the hops show through with some grassy and herbal notes as well, but the finish is nice from the malts with a light dose of sugars from caramel and the toasted grain. Aftertaste shows a nice balance of deeper, earthier malts with some light hops that do have some bitterness here, but they are both tempered by some light sugars, especially noticeable at the end. Overall, a pretty nice and dry, very grainy, rustic and toasty malt beer with some good balance of hops and bitterness and a soft sweetness throughout that hits the balance nicely and leaves a good layer of all the flavours here for the duration. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from The Perfect Pour in ElkRidge, Maryland on 28-November-2016 for US$2,69 sampled at my condo here in Washington in Spring 2017.

Crisp and ever so slightly hazy pink and rose (duh!) coloured body with a thick, four to five centimetre tall off-white head that slowly fades on the top and leaves a bit of a lace on the sides. Aroma of very subdued wheat and soft fruits with some plums, pears, dragonfruit and crisp, tart raspberry notes (that could be the hibiscus) with a light kick of yeast noticeable, but the nose is very nice throughout. Light-bodied; Sharp and strong grassy and dry flavours up front with the light fruits hitting hard and leaving a nice profile, but not cloying or even deep enough to stick around, the malt comes shortly thereafter and leaves a bit of a biscuity bite with mostly a small wheat component and some slight sweetness on the end. Aftertaste is dry and grassy with the fruits noticeable here and a kick from the wheat and light yeasts that lingers a long time with a soft raspberry tartness that goes down very easily. Overall, a pretty nice and soft soured beer that hits like a gose with fruits, but with a very light profile and perhaps not as much brineyness, but the dryness and light malts are clearly here. A bit underwhelming to me overall, but perhaps I have higher standards for sours and especially hibiscus-based beers. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 23-October-2021 for US$3,29, canned on 13-July-2021 (my lucky day) sampled at my house here in Washington on 14-May-2022.
