Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/earthy/pine hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, bread dough, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy/pine hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Touch of lingering hop astringency through the glass, but not overwhelming. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy/pine hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, despite the aggressively bitter/drying finish. Quite unique as it only has noble hops, but the yeast adds nice fruity complexity. Big bright earthy/citrusy/spicy hops with balanced malts; but never overly sweet/heavy feeling. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

The 22 oz bomber came home with me from a successful buying venture at a Metroplex area Total Wine. Strip the wax away, open the bottle and I pour into my tulip glass a black-with-red-undertone body. Doing that delivers a tall light brown foam which lingers nicely. The nose is hard candy and ripe fruit. A sip gives me burned toast, raisin and dried apricot. The initial sweetness leads to a decent finishing bitterness. Thick, very full mouth feel. A lot going on here. Kudos to our friends from Houston.

Obtained with a number of other bombers at the Total Wine in Plano. Let us see if it is the best one. Poured into my New Belgium snifter glass it delivers a dark, almost black body and a skim of tan foam. An inviting nose, I detect dark fruit, dark chocolate and malt. The taste is very full as an imperial stout should deliver. It has a coffee intro, more of the chocolate, currant, a great ending bitterness with a touch of the alcohol slipping in. A good Texas representation. Well done H-Town.
