Description
When a long held dream becomes a reality.
From the early 70’s when Ged Slater first saw a small brew pub in Lancashire he knew it was something he always wanted to do.
Fast forward to 1995 and the realisation of that dream. From our 10 barrel plant shoehorned into out buildings at The George to todays 30 barrel plant at our Stafford site the dream Ged had of brewing his own high quality beer using the best ingredients remains the same. The plant might be bigger, the pubs we deliver to may be further away, but the principles of using the best ingredients we can and brewing to the best that we can will always remain true.
Whilst the brewery has grown our principles have remained, we have used the same suppliers since we started.
Over the years we’ve won numerous awards awarded to us from CAMRA, SIBA and the National Honey Awards. Whilst we don’t brew to win awards the ones we do win are always special, its always nice to be recognised for the beers we produce.
The first beer produced was Premium a staple of the core range to this day, a 4.4% English malt, English hopped beer this is a traditional malty beer that is ruby red and has a sweetness to it that makes it incredibly moreish. Quiz fact on this beer it was the first beer produced, the last beer brewed at the Eccleshall plant and the first beer brewed on the Stafford plant.

Hand-pulled cask pint on 26th Sep 2018, in The William Withering, Wellington, Shropshire. Murky, dull orange body, white crown. Red berries abound in both the aroma and taste with Raspberries being the main player, I thought I found some Strawberry flavours too. One pint was enough, but I enjoyed it.

22nd June 2018, cask half-pint in my local Wetherspoons. Clear light golden pour, white head. Citrus leanings in the nose and taste, some good semi-sweet malt action also going on. Liked it.

Cask pint, hand pulled in my local Wetherspoon's pub on 12th April 2018. Golden body, slight mistiness in my glass, white head. Fairly bitter from start to finish with some earthy hop esters and flavours. Passed it's best I should imagine, so scored it objectively and kindly.

9th March 2018, third of a pint, hand-pulled in Slater's, Wolverhampton. Golden pour, wispy white head. Citrus leanings from the hops in both the nose and taste, light floral note or two also. Actually liked this, but I was on a mission and I couldn't stay and have a larger portion before leaving.

Cask at Pembury. It pours clear golden with a tiny white. The aroma is straw, toasty grain, grass, floral and lemongrass. The taste is dry, bitter, pithy, zesty, toasty grain, grass, straw, bit soapy and peppery spice with a dry finish. Lightish body and soft carbonation. Not a huge amount to it, but drinkable enough.

Pembury Tavern. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, modest fine carbonation. Malts bring a mild sweetness. Little egg underneath. Mild and bright citrus. Light bitterish finish. Not too bad.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a frothy head. Its coffee is very understated, as is its stout character, but it’s pleasant enough with a pleasant drinking texture.
