Nice little brother of Orval. More accesible than Orval. Nice bitterness, citrus and hops. But also a bit watery.

Slightly hazy amber colour, firm off-white head. Aroma of hops, malty, light candy sugar, grass, yeast, citrus, lots of american hops. Bitter hoppy flavour, fresh malty sweet. Finish is bitter, hops, quite American hops.
Very fresh, almost ’green’ in flavour and aroma. It’s lighter than regular Orval, but doesn’t seem lacking the body. It was better than both the fresh and aged Orval at Ange Gardien, but it was also much fresher. This would definitely be my session beer of choice!
(Draught @ L’Ange Gardien, Orval)

Oct 2006 (and I still have those two for later!): I have two more in my garage, so this review may change after a further tasting, but I was not impressed at all with this bottle. The worst beer a monk has ever made for me! Slightly cloudy, an off orange colour. Smell was of sour apples, no head, just a wisp, which went almost straight away. Tasted of the same sour apples as the smell, sharp and fizzy. If it had been a blind tasting, I would have said it was a rough Cider or a really poor Geuze.

330 mL bottle. Pours a hazy, dark gold with a huge, off-white head and nice lacing. The aroma is toast, apples, grapefruit, earthy and grassy hops. The flavor is bitter, citrus sourness, and fruity sweetness. The palate is medium, a little syrupy, grainy, and dry. Overall, this is a very complex beer, with great aroma.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Storo. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Malty aroma with hops, spices and yeast with some brett. Fresh and fruity with a nice dry and slightly bitter and citric finish. Quite refreshing.

Out of a bottle in a chalice. Pours a deep gold/copper with a massive khaki head. The head is full and chunky like the moon surface. Biscuit and cracker nose. Some slight cereal graininess. Mouthfeel is slightly slick and then finishes bone dry. Lip smacking dry. Some nice herbal and earthiness with goldenrod meadow flavor.
