2009 bottle at DHVL. It pours clear amber, with a decent white head. The nose is hay, farmyard, wood, spicy yeast and a touch of caramel. The taste is farmyard, dough, hay, herbal, spice and a hint of citrus, with a dry finish. Light body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Really just a thinner, toned-down regular Orval.

Vintage 2004. (This Trappist Ale from Piotr i Pawel in Blue City Warsaw). Drink in 2005 or 2006. Fajne mocno nagazowane metniste bursztynowe, chmielne i nieco kwaskowe. Bardzo sie wyroznia na tle innych Trapistowskich piw. Chyba jest najbardziej wytrawne. Piwo wnet szczypie w policzki, dosc dziwne to uczucie jakby bylo ostre przyprawione pieprzem z kolendra. W posmaku nieco jest troche zielonej sliwki. Serwowane do kieliszka Leffe w temp. 12 stopni. Vintage 2017 (04.10). This Trappist Ale from online: winnicalidla.pl. Drink in 2018 (16.11) in La Trappe goublet. temperatura 13 stopni. Piwo syknelo dosc glosno a to tylo kapselek, spore nagazowanie, od razu swiezy aromat sfermentowanych zielonych jablek. Pieknie wyglada spora piama i bardzo trwala, zadkosc w wieksosci piw trapistow, oblepia kielicha, srednio trwala. Barwa miedziano-bursztynowa, osad nieco zmetnil piwo. W smaku wytrawne, lambickowate, winogrona biale zdeptane spoconymi stopami, jablka, zielone gruszki, pigwa i nawracajace biale winogrona. Na podniebieniu pozostaje goryczka. Klasowe, z gola inne piwo, super Vintage 2017 (04.10) but taste in 09.10.2022. Five years and five days old trappist ale. No tu nieco jest inaczej, takze syknelo, piana pienista srednia, srednio trwala, bardzo metniste i drozdzowe, pachnie suszonymi jablkami i starym kredensem lub poniemieskim drewnianym suchym stolikiem. W smaku suszone jablka, jakis susz owocow, dobre, drozdzowo0zytnie klimaty. dosc ciemnawe. Vintage 2021 (20.01), taste in 20.08.2023 (poured into orginal Orval glass). Fajne tresciwe, wieksze nagazowanie, piana szybko rosnie niczym ilosc nielegalnej imigracji. Metnawe kwaskowe i bardzo chmielne i ziolowe. Pod koniec lata doskonale. Suma sumarum tych kilku roznych orval (chyba 5) pitych w roznym przedziale czasu i roznie starzone wyciagam srednia ocen na poziomie ponad 4,5.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed while nursing a bum elbow after a long day at work...needed a nice treat. Appearance is like a magical potion, dark orange/amber with a rich, frothy white head, tons of tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top. Aroma has a lot going on. There’s a flood of fruity esters mixed with floral hops, mixed in with a complex Belgian yeast, also has a sour/stinky cheese like quality in the nose. Outstanding smell. Taste is extremely complex. Starts slightly tart, becomes increasingly bready, finishes with a slight citrus hops flavor but retains the tart/bread qualities. There’s not much anyone could change about this brew, it’s been brewed for the better half of a century to near perfection. For my style it doesn’t get a 5, but it definitely is one of the best all around beers I’ve ever had.

33 cl. bottle @home. Hazy amber/orange with a big white head. Aroma is funky and hoppy. taste is tart and lively. Finish is bone dry and long lasting. Due to the wild yeast there a lot of variation in taste and aroma but every individual bottle is always the best I ever had, be it a young or a relatively old one. My all-time favorite beer.

0.33 bottle, 9 months old. Unclear orange\amber color with some particles in suspension and big off white head very long lasting. Syrupy nose. Aroma is complex, first of all i’ll say there’s lots of "amaretto", then grapefruit, orange peel, other citrusy blends. Light cherry notes, spices, brandy, and massive amount of grassy hops. I sense some burnt coffee and pepper in the finish. On the bad side there’s something soapy and alcohol. Long bitter finish, extra dry as description said, medium bodied, foamy texture, heavy and lively carbonation, fizzy. Good connoisseur beer, but personally i prefer smoother ones.

33cl bottle. Amber colour with a thick off-white head. Aroma is bready, fruity, citrus and yeasty. Flavour has notes of citrus, as the aroma, but also malty and spicy. The finish is moderate bittery with hints of lemon. Medium carbonation, the body is medium-high and the texture is oily.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on September 21. Pours yellowish brown with a big white head. Smell is a bit funky with some citrus notes, there is also some almonds and figs. Taste is dry, pleasantly bitter and a bit sour. There is a bready maltiness and some lemon. I also detect some dried fruit but it’s hard to pinpoint the different tastes with this much going on. Incredible and unique beer.Re-rate. Many bottles later. Amazing farmhouse ale. Great all around.

Bottle from Central Inn @ Gateshead - 220312 2 year old bottle for only £2! - No tasting notes at the time but more cidery aroma and taste..sour notes...complex....I gave the taste a 9....this is really very very good
Bottle from Peckhams & Rye, Hyndland Bottled 09/06/2011 3 months old Appearance - Very hazy orange/amber, big white rocky head. Aroma - Bready yeast ,citrus, hint of apple, spicy hops, unusual, good aroma. Taste Bread, yeast, peppery spicy hop, citrus, some pleasant sourness / tartness, well-blended, unusual and complex. Palate - Very carbonated champagne feel in the mouth which carries the flavours in the mouth very well and cleans the palate, particularly dry yeasty finish. Light to medium texture and smooth. Dances around in the mouth perfectly. Overall - I did a previous review with an aged beer which was nowhere near as good as this (probably oxidised). Simply a world class beer and so well made. Must try one a year old!
