Rerate: had loads of fresh and old bottles from the first batches (basically all from the old brewing equipment) and this rating is for all those samples. Pitch black, short frothy brown head. Absolutely amazing aroma of chocolate, mocha, soy sauce, roast, dark fruit. Perfect balance in sweet and bitter. Stunningly good beer, each time I try it. If only the new versions could even be half the quality of the old ones. A fresh one would give a 3.9 or something. The 5.0 is for the older batches. Original: Rating 2500. Bottled at NoiZe 30th birthday party. Pitch black color. Good aroma of coffee, dark malt, good quality. Bitter and dry taste, roasted malts. Bitter and dry palate. Again good dutch stuff. 4.8

Cloudy golden coloured, medium sized white head, canned corn and light yeasty nose. Surprisingly watery, light yeasty, fruity and mild spicy taste with hoppy herbal notes. Touch of anise in strong bitter finish. 5.0%

Bottle, 8.3%. Farty, vinous aroma, sweet and slightly roasted. Hazy dark brown colour, no head. Buttery toffee notes. Quite roasted. Light chocolate, chocolate drink powder flavour. Very low carbonation. Strange. Luckily I have another bottle in my cellar. 4 3 4 3 7

One of the best IPAs ever. Great aroma of pine, citrus, and sweet malt. Cloudy gold color and a thick ,cream colored head. Abundant hops in the flavor, with bitterness and a hop burn lashing at the palate. Flavor has ine and malt as well, in addition to passion fruit and star fruit. Thick and heavy for the style. Balanced by sweet malt.

Draugt beer, third pint, at the Belgian & Dutch Bar, BSF at GBBF 08. Cloudy, orange body topped by fragile bubbles. Marked fruity smell followed by sweet late fruits in flavour. Finish off with a few vague bitter endnotes. Thin to medium palate (06.08.2008).

Served from a large wooden barrel at the international bar (bsf), GBBF 08. Inviting aroma of sweet caramel. Vinous taste with warming chocolate developments, and some peaty hints to a lingering finish. Light brownish head over a dark brown coloured body. Very good, indeed, but a third pint glass was enough at the time (05.08.2008)

On tap @ Arendsnest. Black beer with a tan head. Aroma of bitter roasted coffee, moccha. Flavour is coffee, moccha, alcohol, hops, slightly tart. Enjoyable.

Muddy yellow color, cloudy white head, lace. Hayish hoppy, yeasty aroma. High carbonation. Hayish-grassy flavor. Quite aromatic, just a bit too yeasty pilsener as it could be more refreshing without excessive yeast.
