Description
When the young Viennese banker Franz Schaup started brewing beer in 1858, he did not expect his small brewery to develop into one of the most successful breweries in Austria over the years.

In the meantime, the Zipf brewery near the Attersee has a proud 13 beers and 3 types of hops, the refreshment with hop lemonade for adults, to their range. A total of 170 employees work directly at the location in Zipf. They are the ones who ensure that everything runs smoothly every day and are responsible for a large part of the success of the Zipfer brand.

Despite the numerous technical innovations and a merger with Brau Union Österreich AG in 1970, the careful use of resources and brewing with natural hops were always in the foreground.

An unclear yellow beer with a huge head. The aroma is of wheat which makes it sour. The flavor is extremely wheaty and sour.

Bottle : Poured a yellow hazy beer with a nice head with average retention. Aroma is purely comprised of wheat, although it seemed like this brand of wheat had a very floral nature. Taste is very refreshing with again the taste of wheat taking over. Overall, this is an above average hefeweizen and perfect drink for those hot summer days.

Bottled, labelled as Weissbier Dunkel (BB 10/2004, ABV 5.5%)
Murky, hazy orange brown with huge white head. Banana and citrus aroma. Refreshing citron flavor with banana tones. Long crisp aftertaste. I prefer this more than Edelweiss Hefetrub.

An orange beer with a small extremely fast disappearing head. The aroma is a boring malty sweet one with notes of straw. The flavor is just like the flavor.

Bottled. Clear golden, rich head. Citrusy yeasty aroma. Sweat and rounded. Lightly buttery with bold mouthfeel. Some late bitterness. Works fine as a thirst quencher, but has little depth.
