Bottle from Alnwick Gardens gift shop. Pours clear ruby with a thin off-white head. Aromas of light smoke, floral hops. Taste is thin, light sweet. Ok.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2015, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Black Paw Polar Paw ].Clear dark brown - red amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, light wood. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, dark malt, hay. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20150811]

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2014, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Black Paw Archbishops Ale ].Clear light dark amber brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, sweet malt - fruit, licorice notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, licorice in late finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140813]

Cask at GBBF 2015, day 1 - London. Pours clear brown with a light tan head. The nose has some English yeast, toasty bread. Light sweet flavor with some soggy brown bread, faint leafy hops, earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Brown bread in the finish, light toffee. So so overall.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours clear deep brown with a small white head. The nose is toasted brown bread, soft fruit cake, mild spice, burnt pie and light tang. The taste is toasty, wood, leather, cocoa, weak coffee, toffee and light tang. Lightish body and fine carbonation. More of a mild than anything else. Not a whole lot to it.

Cask at GBBF ’15, day 1, 11/08/15. Chestnut brown topped with a moderate beige swirl. Nose is earthy, toffee, light spice, biscuit, faint smoke. Taste comprises toffee, hint of vanilla, trace of spice, dark malt, biscuit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Average but OK.
