Cycled into Oxford, Saturday 31st May 2014 had this on cask, handpump at The Grapes. Pours chestnut in colour, good clarity with just a light off-white film atop. Malty nose giving some sweet aroma’s. Taste is tangy and fruity, not unlike the product from which this gets its name, though thankfully this doesn’t have any vinegar, tamarind or whatever else goes into brown sauce. Its fine, but nothing more. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1 soy sauce,

Bottle at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint however I have this before but clearly not rated from Tesco Extra. A mix of citrus on the nose, orange, lemon and maybe some grapefruit all underpinned with a little biscuity maltiness, a little dry in the finish. Appearance is gold, a little murky and a white head atop. Just about the best tonight. I recall going to Butlins Barry Island when I was a young whippersnapper, great memories. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Keg at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint Pours light gold with white head. Clean, fresh nose some lemon. Uncomplicated and straightforward blonde ale, offering a measured citrussy fruitiness throughout but with little else in the way of diversion. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Keg at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint Pours hazy yolky light amber yellow, white rim of bubbles. A bit sweet, lacks a bit of refreshing zap in favour of a slight oversweet profile. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint Pours hazy gold with white head, aroma is of pondweed and with a big swirl the nose does get a slight zesty zap and then the coriander. Taste is a little orangey but refreshing an interesting clash of styles even so it is a little restrained, American hops not so evident. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Bottle at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint Aroma of marshmallow and popcorn and spice in fact a little Jelly Bean© ish. Quite unusual nose, soft in mouth some banana starts to come through but a little to heavily spiced. Interesting but unsure of itself. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask handpump at The Grapes, Oxford, Thursday 29th May 2014 in company of Helen & Geraint Pours copper colour and clear as a bell. Nice fruity twang to this but the nose is rather chocolatey. The bitterness is a slow burner but persistent. Good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

White Hart, Nicholsons. Cask. Clear amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and smooth and a little dry. Modest carbonation. Good marmalade hops, touch of fresh orange. Whispers of lemon and hop spice. Smooth dry finish. Pretty decent if a tad flat.
