Bomber. Dark brown color. Slightly off white head. Sweet aroma. Very sweet flavor, almost syrup like (it’s brewed with maple syrup, so it makes sense). Strong alcohol content hits you hard after completion, but is less noticable when consuming.

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Jan 26th, 2007: The beer is a dark chestnut color with a medium thin and rather fizzy light brown head that dissipates right away. Thin and spotty lacing. Cocoa aroma similar to opening a can of the powdered mix. Not much else to the aroma. Medium-bodied and lightly roasty with cocoa dominating the flavor as well. The finish is sweet cocoa and is chalky at times. Pretty much a one-trick pony.

Pour is a dark maple brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is hints of malts, hops and a thick sweetness. Flavor is blah. Super sour with nothing really redeaming going on. No maple no nuts just sour milk. Must be a bad of spoiled bottle b/c there is no way any brewer would sell this crap.

12 oz. bottle just a few weeks past its best by date. I’m trying this in the middle of a homebrew, and the smell goes well; a nice bit of English and American hop. In fact, in the glass, it more of a citrusy PNW smell. Deep coppery color, very minimal head. Taste is pretty good. The American hops kind of overwhelm at first, but I can detect the British and German base beneath it--unless that’s just the power of suggestion at work. Still, some nice caramel and toasty malts working here. A better example of these Tommyknocker beers.

12 oz. Bottle Another bottle a month or two past its Best By date. But let’s see. Clear gold color under a thin head, small trickles of bubbles. Light wheat smell. Taste is light and lemony, but I also get a mouth full of perfume. I find this a big distraction. Layer of yeast at bottom of bottle.

Poured an extremely dark brown, only the hues on the edges showed it wasn’t a stout. Poured with almost no lacing head. Smells of malt, maple, sugar and a faint aroma of alcohol. Initial flavor is malty and sweet with flavors of maple, caramel and grainy bread. Finish kinda ruins this beer, medicinal with the alcohol heat and at the very end a burnt flavor. I loved the concept of this beer so they get high marks for trying but the execution is lacking at the finish.

bomber - Pours dark brown with a 3 finger head. The aroma is of sweet malts and yeast. The flavor is sweet with toasted malts and some fruit notes. It’s smooth, medium bodied, and has a moderately sweet finish. This beer is a couple years old but has held up well. Nicely done.

Dark red-brown, med head. Caramel and maple aromas and flavors, with the fake caramel winning out in the flavor. Light and boring palate. Nothing going on here.

Bottle. Sweet dusty aroma. Dark brown colour, small amount of gunk. Small light brown head. Sweet flavour with a nice creaminess. Unfortunately sour aftertaste.

Like other Tommyknocker beers, this one pretty much sucks. There is a strange cocoa and pepper flavor that doesn’t work at all when combined with the honey sweetness. It is a light brown and has a moderate head. At least they are trying something different.
