Bottled@AIH53 (from AbM). Hazy orange colour with a mediumsized foamy/fluffy white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some herbal and wooden notes along with mild bitterness and grass to it. Flavour is floral, herbal, some wooden and zesty notes along with a nice grassy bitter throatdrying finish to it.

Bottled@AIH53 (from AbM). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is grains, mild salty and bready notes along with some herbs. Flavour is herbal, grassy, salty and some bready and grainy notes. Long herbal and grassy aftertaste.

355ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Spicy aroma, notes of cinnamon, a touch of vanilla. Taste is X-masy, mildly spicy, notes of cinnamon, a touch of vanilla, subtle sugary sweetness; reminds of specaloos. Nice variation.

Thanks, flopfacefred. This is an odd one. The beer pours black and nearly no brown can be seen. Very small beige head that fades to nothing. The liquid has a heavy, sorta oily look to it. The beer smells strongly of toasted sweetened coconut. Unfortunately, there’s not much depth to it, so it comes off a bit cheap and candy-ish. It doesn’t really smell artificial, just kinda odd. The base adds a cola character with a touch of rye spice and mild sweet chocolate. It makes me think of some sort of toasted coconut soda. I wish it had more fresh coconut flavor. The taste has more of that cola stout flavor. It’s a bit sharp, acidic. Kinda nutty. Lots of coconut. There might just not be enough stout fullness to hold this thing up. It’s fairly thin and a bit oily with some fizzy carbonation. I’m not loving the beer, but it does pack a lot of coconut.

Bottle thanks to Nolen. Pours clear golden apple, small off-white head, dissipates quickly, good lacing Aroma is pot, pot, pot, pine, dankness. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, dank as hell. Light body. Quite interesting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Levi’s place. Thanks Levi. Dark brown. Aroma of lots of coconut, some chocolate. Flavor is a bit sweetish, with lots of coconut, some roast, chocolate, nuts, a rye note, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Possibly the most coconut-y beer I’ve ever tried.

Bottle thanks to Nolen! Pours deep clear black, medium tan head, dissipates fairly quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is lots of coconut, mounds bar, roasted malts. Flavor is heavy coconut, mounts, mocha, roasted malts, a bit of spiciness from the rye. Light plus sweet and light bitter. Medium body, hint of acidity. Tasty beer.

12oz bottle brought back from California to drink at home: today is the day (2nd July 2015). Poured slowly into a Westmalle chalice: most likely the first time this beer has been treated to such a glass? Exceedingly dark body with a full tanned topping that sadly turned into a thin wisp and collar all too swiftly. Malts all the way here: coffee and dark chocolate coming through loud and clear. There are added bonuses like a yeasty touch and a spicy trace along with an earthy feel to the semi-sweet base. Body depth hides the alcohol well and there is enough going on in the beer to sit back and enjoy. This is a ’Smoking Jacket’ in front of a log fire sort of beer: lovely.
