Cheers go out to Cheeseman for opening this one! batch# 66, May ’09 Pours brown, light haze, off white head. Aroma is malty, some wood, caramel in the nose, mixed with some berryish fruits. Flavor, lightly malty with a Belgian-esque yeasty mouthfeel. dark sugar, caramel, cherry like port fruit, abv seemed more prominent toward the end. Definitely a good approach to the style.

Bottle, 5.1% ABV, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Brew No. 77. Very dark brown colour, low head. Strange aroma of aniseed, liquorice and cough medicine. The flavour has notes of mild coffee, hints of cocoa and liquorice, fizzy mouthfeel.

70cl bottle via trade with Christian Scheffel. Pours nearly black with a lasting creamy beige head and lacings. Nose & taste is roasted malts, coffee, fruit and liquorice. On the sweet side but however very smooth and tasty with coffee and liquorice up front. Vague alcohol, caramel and slighly ashy. Just as nice and drinkable as I expected it to be.

Bottle, 7.5%. Mild fruity aroma. Almost black colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is OK liquoricy, slightly sweet. Starts off with a bit of yeast flavour, tastes a bit like homebrew, but turns good after a few sips. There is a distinct alcohol flavour, but it balances the sweetness and liquorice.
