Description
In May 1867, the Leinenkugel family brewery was founded in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin by Jacob Leinenkugel. He was a family man driven by an iron work ethic, and he knew that his German family heritage would play an integral part of his brewery’s success. Today, the sixth generation of Leinenkugels continues to brew some of the same family-inspired recipes that Jacob poured his heart and soul into. Over the years, our family has grown and so has our brewery, but our history and heritage remain at the forefront.

Rather disappointing. A dark red color, creamy head. Aroma has a touch of caramel, some spicy hop is understated. Flavor is pretty one dimensional with a light bready cookie-ish malt, hints of caramel. There’s a metallic like hop finish. The description states munich malt but it must have been used in very low proportion. This brewery knows how to make a bock dammit, but they completely chickened out of this one.

Bottled (thanks SHIG!). Strange pinkish orange red colour with small beige head. Aroma is lots of raspberry along with some fruty notes as well as mild notes of honeylike sweetness. Flavour is quite much the same along with some mild syrupy notes.

bottle, from SHIG, only the finest from the Spangdahlem shopette. Pours, strawberry color with a small head. Aroma is raspberry and light malt. Sugary berry flavors. Too sweet for me.

Bottle. Pours a transparent and reddish brown with a fairly small head and thin aromas of nuts, earth and grain dust. Flavor is fairly gross. Kind of a washed out bock with a bit of a bitter/chemical edge to it. Grrrr....

Bottle. Not sure where the rating went, but it seems to have vanished this summer. Funny thing was that when I bought this the customer in front of me went on and on about it, so I remember thinking... nah... I thought it would probably suck. Pour was a pee yellow with some fizz and a lemonade aroma. Flavor is lemonade with just a touch of malt and alcohol so you could call it a beer if you were so inclined. Sure, it’s light and crisp and fruity... not my bag, though.

12 oz. bottle. Opened after the Super Bowl, no real reason. Pours dark brown, thin but bubbly head. Smells of a basic macro dark beer, but not bad. Tastes all right. I do get a nice dose of malt with some caramel to it, a tingle of bitterness. I guess I’d say it is a bit hearty, even chewy. Some body to it sets it just above ordinary mass produced lager. Actually got this at Dominick’s, but it’s at Binny’s in this area, too.

Bottle: Poured a hazy red with a medium off white head. The aroma is rich with berry. Taste is berry that slowly tapper of into a grain mixture.

Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is caramel malts with some roasted nuts. Flavor is light on the malts with more on the creamyness. This is just ok as it does not offend and is easy to drink.

Bottle on 09/27/2008. Very clear pale amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Slightly toasty grainy aroma. Very grainy, almost astringent flavor, some toasty hints. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

On tap @ Skyview’s bar during the Thrila in Bob’s Villa. This beer is over a year old now. Poured into a copita glass with an all black body and a large brown head, very dark head. Aroma is thick, oily, even salty, sweetly bittered, and chocolate. Definitely boozy, man its everything you want in a punch-you-in-the-face Impy. Taste is is still hoppy and bitter from the hops. Mouthfeel //is thick and viscous, perfect for this type of beer. Definitely cool st//uff, a bit too aggressive still, I would like to try this again in another year. 8/4/8/4/16
Rerate: 12oz bottle, 2011. Its a beautiful beer, thick large ass brown head. Aroma is all hops, tropical hops mostly, and bitter on the nose. Same in the flavor, covering up the rest of the beer. Thick mouthfeel. When I tried it the first time I thought it was too hopoy and it was a year old. Fresher this is way too hoppy. I would like to try this with 2 years on this at least. 7/5/7/4/15.
