Whole Foods Market, DC 4-pack ($11): Pours a reddish brown color with a minor head. Aroma is of lemongrass and sugary malts, along with a hint of the booze. Taste is strange. The Thai spices that they threw in here sort of work with the dubbel tastes, but not quite entirely. It is dangerously smooth and easy drinking (more so than other dubbels that I’ve had in my life). Kind of less body than other dubbels. Weird, unique beer, but not something that should be repeated too often.

Draught@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Goldeny orange colour with a mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops along with some nectary and honeyish notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some quite dry bittery notes. Fruity, but quite bitter and dry aftertaste.

26/04/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa. Birra particolarissima e curiosa.

Can pour courtesy of gunhaver. It has a mahogany body with thin mocha head. The aroma is just loads of spicy black licorice and anise as well as maybe a sense of rootbeer. The taste is thick sludgy buckets of spicy black licorice that makes one wonder how they fit all this licorice into this little can. Behind the mountain of black licorice is a sense of black strap molasses.

Draft. A hazy light golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as a touch of lemon. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, metallic hops, peaches, slightly over ripe oranges, and a bit of yeast.
