Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is malt and some peppery yeast, grass, grain. Light to moderate bitter, low sweetness. Medium body. Okay but as a Saison it falls short.

Fles geprobeerd met Benzai, Keukeman en Roelzie. Het is een troebel donkerbruin bier dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van de moutig en rozijnen. De smaak is vol moutig, zoetig rozijnen.

11 - 14 July. Holiday retreat at Laon. Cheers! Bottle from Stacks.
Hazy dark brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of cooked apple, pear, raisin, date, dried grapefruit peel, tea leaves, peanut, toffee, bourbon, wood. Taste has sweet pear, date & red apple in a toffee- & fruit cake-like malt body with a herbal hint of tea. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish of dried fruits, a touch of coffee and some grapefruit peel, indeed lending that bitter 'American' feel to the Barley Wine profile. Warming alcohol in the throat (somewhere between liqueur and bourbon). Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not super complex but it delivers.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with short dark tan head. Aromas of earthy black coffee, dark chocolate, dry vanilla, a bit of cognac, and rich roasty malts. Flavors follow same with additional dark sugars and powdery dark chocolate, plus a little smoke. Overall quite dry with a warming finish, but otherwise little hint of the ABV. Excellent.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a a very fine head. Aromas of oak, calvados, dark fruit leaning toward raisins, and toasted malts. Flavors of same with emphasis on calvados. Oaky and slightly sour notes on the finish. Some complexity.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate fizzy head. Aromas of sugars, alcohol, dark fruit, chocolate and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional maple syrup and strong bourbon. Alcohol presence is very noticeable and thinning, but a nice warm sipper.
