Description
With the creation of Village brewery De Meester we want to re-establish the tradition of artisan brewing in Kuurne. Our beers are brewed solely according to the traditional brewing processes, with the greatest care and only with natural raw materials. For our beers, we use hop flowers from Poperinge exclusively and refrain for using nor colour pigments, nor foam improvers, nor artificial seasonings. The result of this traditional work methods are the beers of Village brewery De Meester. Beers with character, interwoven with aromas from the different local hops.

06/02/2016 sample @ BAB shared by tederoeck, 77ships, kradel, ... Very dark brown, just a small lacing left. Nose is dark fruits, caramel, dark malts. Taste is dark malts, licorice, dark fruits, Nice but classical dark beer, clearly inspired by famous examples. So no points for originalty.

06/02/2016 – sample @ BAB shared with tderoeck, 77ships and kradel. Light hazy yellow with medium white head. Seems a bit too young, hints of grains and banana. Mediocre.

Sampled bottled @ Bierfestival Brugge 2016. Thank you for sharing! Very hazy brownish amber with little off-white head. Nose is rotting banana, sugar, old dull plaster lager, herbs, sugar, spoiled bready grains. Taste is sweet rotting grain soup, rotting herbal grains, spoiled banana, heavy plaster yeast. Body is grainy spoiled bread. Unfortunately there is still a large market for this kind of beers in Belgium it seems or at least far too many new & established brewers keep churning out beers like this.

Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Bierfestival Brugge 2016. Thank you for sharing! Blackish dark brown, little mocha head. Nose is huge gravy, umami, herbal licorice, overly syrupy dark grape, heavy odd gravy umami quality takes it way down for me. Taste is weird herbal licorice umami, something spoiled, really messy, oddly gravy-heavy, spoiled herbal. Weird licorice mocha & herbal body. Far too gravy-like for my liking.

Sampled bottled @ Bierfestival Brugge 2016! Thank you for sharing. Dark brown amber with an off-white head. Nose is boring spoiled red fruits with sugar, overly sugary with heavy plaster yeast. Taste is rotting spoiled fruits, alcoholic, fermenting spoiled berries, alcoholic, plaster yeast. Body is fizzy spoiled red fruits mixed with plaster. Subpar attempt at a boring standard Belgian.

Almost no head, hazy amber-orange beer. Almonds, sweet malts, low profile, certainly for the hops. Sweetish, again almondy, rosewater, bit dull (indeed, pun intended) finish. Medium bodied, slick, and, if muted, an alcoholimpression. Not bad, nowhere exciting.
