440ml can from Scotmid. 8%. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of sugar, malt, cooked vegetables, something metallic. Taste is sweet. Nothing much else going on. Builds to a pretty rank climax though. Something suggesting poor drainage or immense gastric distress. And after all that, still not as bad as I was expecting!

Deep golden colour, small frothy white head, recedes slowly, fair lacing. Aroma toasted malts, grain, caramel, alcohol. Taste light heavy sweet and medium bitter, alcohol. Sweetbitter aftertaste, malty, alcohol. Medium body, oily to sticky texture, soft carbonation, not good.

Cask at the Cask & Barrel, Broughton St. Pours clear amber with a creamy white head. Paler than I thought it would be. Aromas of floral hops, light lemon and caramel. Taste has a mineral bite, sweet oat biscuits. Tangy bitter lemon finish. Nice.

Dark golden, dense white head, decently persistent. Aroma has light notes of cereal and lemon soaked in heavy alcohol. Taste has a vague sweetness, a lot of alcohol and a quite harsh chemical finish/aftertaste. Body is heavy with light carbonation, mouthfeel is dense and chewy. It’s bad, but still tolerable
