(Cask at The Tin Goose, Heathrow Airport, London 29 Apr) Copper colour with creamy white head. Fruity nose with apricots and stifled notes of dusty hops. Fruity taste with notes of apricots and traces of dusty hops in a rather unchallenging finish. Nothing wrong with it, just lacking character.

Distinct and unique. Bacon aroma or some other kind of smoked meat. Dark in color with a dark brown thin head. Taste is heavily vanilla finishing in licorice. Rather complex and not very hoppy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually uprated it several times by the time I finished it.

Bottle, 9% in Rome. Peppery mash aroma. Clear dark copper colour. OK semi-stable head. Sweet marcipan flavour. Warming/burning alcohol flavour. Late bitterness, a bit rough. Maltier than most strong lagers.

This beer is hell of dark, witha quickly gone head that is really brown. Smells sweet of course (if sweet is a smell) with some fruitier elements. Palate is like a GOD! Seriously, each sip brings something new and contemplating on the taste brings out new things all the time. Definately sweet from the milk sugar. But also it has a considerable roasty qaulity to it... so some coffeeish elements in there. A bit of chocolate, but not bitter. Very malty and with a tinge of alcohol taste that only accentuates the sweetness and is about as inoffensive as a children’s television program. BRILLIANT!

Cask at The Mudlark, Southwark. Really light aroma. Maybe it’s malt. What can you say? Well balanced hop and malt, but not truly inspirational. Always an acceptable drink, but new brews tend to be more complex and interesting. Pity.

The Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich. Aroma of malt and floral hop. Deep amber color with a frothy white head. LIghtly sweet malt start, somewhat balanced by hop, but the malt persists into the finish.

Keg at the Prince Albert, Dover, England. It looks very nice, with a clear, still, copper-colored body and a nice, beige head leaving nice lacings. A bit big-bubbled head. The aroma is a bit weak, but balanced with malt and hops. The flavor is malty, with caramel, a light roasted note and some hops. Medium body and a mostly malty finish, but there’s some hops there too. A quaffable beer. (060713)

Cask at The Neptune, Derby. Deep reddish brown with a long-lasting beige head; a faint malt aroma; full and malty in the mouth, not as sweet as expected, actually slight dry, but smooth and creamy; the fruity aftertaste develops slowly.
