Slightly hazy dark amber beer. Crisp semi dry palate. Dry malt with lively bitter orange fruit hops that are also slightly sour. The back end reveals toffee in the malt. Not bad.

Bottle shared at CBC during my birthday. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige head. Some roast in the nose, light cocoa. Big sweet flavor, chocolate, some tangy malts, dark fruits, light earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Chocolate roast finish, more mild tangy dark malts, some burnt wood. Lasting cocoa. Decent.

Pigs Ear. Hazy gold beer, little white head. Light dry palate, a bit too dry. Nice rich marmalade hops but an unwelcome sulphur streak mars things. Dry finish.

Pigs Ear. Clear amber beer, suddy white head. Light palate, low carbonation. Weird beer! A distinct sweet cherry tone runs through this but the malt is skewed and slightly sour. Smoke adds to the confusion! A little orange hop. A bit messy! Semi dry finish.

Bottle thanks to Leighton, during his birthday celebrations. It pours jet black, with a thick light tan head. The nose is vanilla, nougat, roasted malt and toasted coconut. The taste is tangy dark fruit, raisin, plum, red grape, chocolate, toast, charcoal, roasted malt and some lingering alcohol warmth. Medium body, with low, prickly carbonation. Decent.

Cask at Pigs Ear. Clear deep amber beer. Small very pale tan head. Light palate, smooth and semi dry. Mild toffee malt, slightly spicy hops with bittersweet orange marmalade. Semi dry finish. Goes down okay!

Bottle at home in London. Night before heading to USA. Pours crystal clear copper with a monstrous, ever-growing white foam head. Bit of toasty malts in the nose, some light ripe fruits, light caramel. Light sweet flavor, dry wood, leaves, toast. Light bodied with absolutely explosive carbonation. Light dry finish, light sweetness, mild tangy berries, some toast. Not altogether bad, though I can’t imagine the condition is optimal.

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Amber colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is fruits, wooden and caramelly with some mild syrupy sweet notes as well. Flavour is the same along with some mild leathery and spicy notes as well. Ends rather bitter.
