Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear gold with white head. Aroma of corn, grains and skunk. Taste is about the same. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, another crap pale lager.

Medium white head. Clear yellow body. Coarse grainy aroma with cardboard notes. Dry cardboard and malt taste with mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Slightly grainy mouthfeel. Dryish papery grainy aftertaste with slight acidity. Not really very nice. (0.35l can, from JR Takashimaya, Nagoya station.)

My 330ml bottle was brewed under licence by Wells and Youngs of Bedford, England: best before 8 July 2012 it was poured (twice) into a ’Veltins’ badged pilsner stemmed tulip on 14 Feb 2012. Looks like a regular lager: golden, clear and bright, mid depth of goldness. The head a mass of white bubbles, then fading to a wispy covering and a collar. Slight hop aroma, some hints of cereals maybe as well. Crisp, dry and boring were my first three thoughts as the beer entered my mouth. Strangely for a lager as the mouth began to dry after each sip the palate seemed to get sweeter instead of the normal slightly bitter, sometimes metallic hit. I suspect my beer (brewed in the UK) tastes very different to the US version. So my review will not be a lot of good to most users, but hey ho, it might interest one or two who read it.

Pale golden coloured body with a hint of cloudiness, a billion small bubbles rising from the bottom and a centimetre thick white head. Aroma of pale malt, skunk and a bit of metal - not so great. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour at first with some earthy malt, a hint of light hops and a few sugars tucked in to the metallic and pungent flavour. Aftertaste shows a grassy herbal taste with the metal notes and a small sweetness. Overall, a fairly standard lager with more of a metallic and herbal note than most. I sampled this 35 cL can purchased from 7-11 in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan on 04-August-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 15-March-2012.

Bottle. Pours clear light golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt with just a hint of hops. Sweet and watery without much aroma and flavour, pretty clean. Tastes a bit like malty natural mineral water with alcohol. Not bad, it just doesn’t taste much. Works well as a thirst quencher.

Brought over for me by my sister in law, thanks Terry. Pours a crystal clear golden color with a smallish bone white head and a persistent stream of carbonation bubbles floating to the surface. Initially smells of corn and skunk when I crack the can, but that subsides after the brew hits the glass. Bready pilsner malt dominate the aroma with a bit of earthy I guess its rice, but my nose finds a light corn aroma. Taste is lightly metallic with sweet almost honey like flavors. Spirited level of carbonation light body with a slick almost sweet mouthfeel. I’m glad I got to try this, but this is the last and probably my least favorite of the brews I got from Japan.
