Cask @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Deep reddish-brown with a smooth head. Fairly smooth tasting and crisp, there is some grain, rye and malt flavours in here, by there’s a slightly thin feel to the ale too. Has a very gentle sweetness.

KØLF 030715. Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, hop, berries, fruit. Flavour is nuts, malt, hop, caramel, berries, fruit. Medium body. Ordinary beer .

Cask @ Odd Bar, Manchester. Amber-gold with a thin head. Has a sugary fruitiness with a red berry sweetness in its nose.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. 25/08/2015. From ASDA. Chestnut brown coloured pour with reddy hues with a big frothy cream head. Aroma is nut roast, oyster salty notes, black malt, malt extract. Some meaty notes. Flavour is composed of drying black malts, dried malt extract, raisin, nutty and some dried fruits. Palate is highish carbonation, low body, watery. Ok, not much to it.

Bottle. Nose is dark malts, bread and a lot of treacle. Taste is treacle, dark malts, red berry, hint of chocolate in the finish. Slight off sour note. Mouthfeel is thin. It’s a serviceable supermarket stout.

Cask (backlog). Goldeny otange colour with a small white head. Aroma is zesty, citrusy, bready and also has some nice sweet maltiness to it. Flavour is zesty, caramelly, floral and toffeeish with some mild nectary sweetness as well.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours clear deep brown with a decent off - white head. The nose is toasty, earthy roast, mild berry sweetness, touch of plastic and light spice. The taste is bitter, toasty, watery, weak roast, pepper, light ashy charred character and a touch of astringency with a dry, numbing finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. A bit weak and washy-washy. So-so.
