Description
A family-run craft brewer. Trevor Harris and his wife Kes set up Derby Brewing Company in 2004, they are now semi-retired but still keep a close eye on the beer! Their son Paul is currently the managing director.

Tap at the brewpub, one third glass. Straw coloured body. Tiny white lacing-head blanketing the glass. Sweaty hops n the nose. Herbal hoppy flavours together with earthy malts. Oily palate. Watered on the swallow. Anonymous (Derby 22.02.2015).

One-third pint glass from a sample tray, tap at the brewpub. Jet black body, fawn-coloured head. Roasted dark malty smell. Mild chocolate taste with underlying hints of yeast. Roasted endnotes. Not in its best shape, perhaps (Derby 22.02.2015).

Sample tray, third, tap at The Tap. Pearl white head to a clear golden body. Spotty lacing down the glass. Herbal hops on the nose, hints of yeast. Flavours of leafy hops and bread, again with a drop of yeast to it. Okay, tastes a bit unsettled though (Derby 22.02.2015).

One-third pint, tap at the brewpub, The Tap. Clear amber coloured body. Good amount of lacework from a low beige head. Caramel-driven aroma and taste leading to a bittersweet finish. Easy to drink. Straightforward (Derby 22.02.2015).

500ml bottle bought at Kellentay Beers. Clear dark golden body under a film-type layer. Aroma of toffee and herbal hops. Rather similar taste profile of toffee and honey together citric hints. Semi-dry bitter tail. Oily palate and fine bodied. Drinks very well (session with Are, Johnny, Dark Erik and Knut, hotel room Derby 22.02.2015).

Cask, as Five Lamps, 4.5 %, half pint, house beer at Five Lamps in Derby. Patch layer at the top of a clear copper coloured body. Dotted spots to glassware. Caramel malty nose with herbal dryness. Smooth taste of caramel malts. Clean in the mouth. Satisfying (21.02.2015).

Leicht trübes orangegoldenes Bier mit einer fingerbreiten leicht beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Obst, leicht hopfig, wenig Zitrone. Geschmack fruchtig, malzig, etwas Karamell, Citrus, süffig, ok!

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Copper-amber with a thin head. Has a light session texture despite its strength with a crisp balanced characters and a light bitterness.
