Description
A family-run craft brewer. Trevor Harris and his wife Kes set up Derby Brewing Company in 2004, they are now semi-retired but still keep a close eye on the beer! Their son Paul is currently the managing director.

Bottle @ home. Clear amber color, medium sized beige head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste malts, some caramel, biscuit, decently bitter. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle @ home. Clear reddish color, average sized off-white to beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Not a lot of aroma other than malts. Taste malts, lightly bitter hops, a hint of dried fruits, soft bitterness. Average to decent body and carbonation.

Cask handpump at the Five Lamps, Derby, Saturday 17th January 2015 Listed as Five Lamps Ale. Pours burnished copper, clear. Really fruity twang, good bitter nothing out of the ordinary but in great condition and tastes decent. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, hop, caramel. Flavour is fruit, malt, hop, caramel, floral. Medium body. Ordinary beer. KRS 150814.

Cask at the Bricklayers Arms, Bishops Stortford. Mid to dark gold. White grape aroma. Taste is less palatable: the hop flavour is marred by a buttery sourness. The malt backbone reasserts at the most inopportune moment like Polonius shouting for help beyond the arras. This isn’t off, but the recipe isn’t quite right.

500ml bottle from brewery via eebria. Golden colour with white head. Aroma has orange citrus and grapefruit. The taste has more orange with a decent bitter finish.

500ml bottle from the pheasantry brewery shop. Amber colour with off white head. Aroma is mainly fruit but a touch of bread too. The taste is slightly sweet, citrus, malts and bread.
