Description
A family-run craft brewer. Trevor Harris and his wife Kes set up Derby Brewing Company in 2004, they are now semi-retired but still keep a close eye on the beer! Their son Paul is currently the managing director.

Cask (gravity) @ Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival (2014), Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EL. [ As Derby Derby Dunkel ].Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, malt extract - caramelized malt - burnt malt, dark malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, sweet malt, roasted, malt extract - caramelized malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141011]

Cask (gravity) @ Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival (2014), Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EL. [ As Derby Mercia IPA ].Clear medium yellow color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, straw, pale malt, light to moderate hoppy, citrus - fruity, UK yeast notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, pale malt, citrus. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141010]

Cask gravity at NWAF, Derby, Wednesday 17th February 2016 Pours mid gold with a sticky white head on top. Initial sweetness is tempered by a nice buzzy hoppiness, hoppy streaks across the roof of the mouth, quite tasty, courtesy of dad (cheers dad!) A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

Bottled. Goldeny amber colour with a mediumsized white fluffy head, which leaves lace. Aroma is caramel malts, mild syrupy notes as well as some citrus and nectar to it. Flavour is mildly acidic fruitiness as well as some caramel, toffee and mild herbal and grassy notes.

Bottle shared with sarah picked up at ASDA. Clear dark orange amber coloured pour with a lasting white head. Aroma is nice Berry fruits, nutty malts, light toffee. Flavour is composed if nutty, light toffee, light tangy berry, tangy apple, grain tannin. Husks. Palate is grainy, highish carbonation, dryish finish. Little alcohol bite in the finish.

Bottle. Creamy White good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Gravity cask at Nottingham festival with fonefan, Charlotte, Boudicca & chriso. Clear deep maroon color. Coffee grounds aroma. Taste has espresso and cocoa. Nice.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Ales by Mail. Pours clear copper with a foamy, off-white head. Basic aroma, some lightly toasted bread, semi-dark fruits, grain. Medium sweet flavor with some sugary bread, mellow caramel, touches of citrus. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes sweet with faint earthy bitterness, lightly toasted grains, berries, subtle brown sugar. Not bad.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Ales by Males. Pours totally clear copper with a foamy, mostly white head. The nose is simple berry fruits, light bread, leaves, toasted grain. Light-medium sweet flavor with pleasant, rounded berry fruit sugars, low bitterness, touches of leaves, faint grass, apple, very mild toffee accents, bready malts. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with further bready malt character, berries, apple, slight grain and leaf. Tasty, easygoing bitter.
