The first pint on a Saturday Shropshire Pub journey (8 pubs): 11th Jan 2014. Hand-pulled into a UK sleeve glass in The Harp, Albrighton. Pale amber body with a staying white crown. I couldn’t pin down the aroma or taste to any one thing: it was maltier in the nose than in the flavour and I thought I detected a hint of wintery spices in both the smell and taste. Good body depth and I liked the taste, even if I can’t describe it very well! One of the better UK Christmas beers I’ve had this winter.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, thick, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity aroma has notes of gosseberry, red berries, a touch of apricot, hints of floral hop. Taste is minimally sweet pale malty, fruity hints of gosseberry, red berries, hints of apricot, a peppery spicy touch, dry, minimally herbal hoppy overtones that turn floral in the finish. Really nice, the golden colour worked as red herring concerning my expectations.

On cask at Mickleover Sports - Hazy copper with creamy white head giving almost uniform lacing. Biscuit malt and grassy hop in harmony with maltiness being dominant feature. A late sweeter malt note then a lightly sweet finish on a pleasant mouthfeel. Likeable.
