Description
A family-run craft brewer. Trevor Harris and his wife Kes set up Derby Brewing Company in 2004, they are now semi-retired but still keep a close eye on the beer! Their son Paul is currently the managing director.

On tap at Craft Beer. Clear dark red - amber beer. Tidy suddy pale tan head. Light palate, low carbonation. Mild minerally dark malt with a very slight roast. Ok but somewhat insipid.

500ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is bready dried fruits and tin. Taste is fruity to start. Malty fruit finish.

Cask@GBBF2010. Golden colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is nectar, floral and fruity hops along with some sweet malts as well. Flavour is fruits, floral notes, some mild sweet bready malts as well.

Cask at the Waggon and Horses, Halesowen. Pours ruby black with no head. Aroma is mild fruity coffee. Taste has a roast malt fruity start and a fruity bitter finish.

On tap at The Wellington in Birmingham, pours pale golden. Aroma of pungent floral hops. Flavour is a blast of English-style floral hops with little else. Not complex, but decent for what it is.

On tap at The Wndmill, pours amber. Aroma of caramel and bitter English hops. Flavour of the same, with a noticeable woody / oak finish. Quite decent.

On tap at The Wellington in Birmingham, pours light golden. Aroma and flavour of light malt, corn, wheat and citrus hops. Not too good.

Dark brown with a soft, tan foam head. Lightly roasted malts on the nose with some dark fruits. Flavor is nice but really one-dimensional. Has some burnt wood, dark cane sugar, mild roast, light earth. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes with modest roast, some sugary malts, light syrup and leafy bitters. Decent beer.

Cask. A deep red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and caramel, leading to a dry finish.

Cask. A dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a lighter note of alcohol, leading to a dry finish.
