Bottle at LCRBM3. Decent wit aroma. I like it, does what you want. Some chemical does come through, like TCP/Savlon. Odd.

A golden pils with a thin light creamy white head. A light pleasant coriander aroma. In mout, a pleasant crisp malt with fruity esters, berries, and warming alcohol. The beer was described by the server has a new pils for the pub, an experiment by Nicolas, the brewer. If this is a pils, it is exceptional but veers more on the Palm/Belgian ale side. On tap at the brewpub, Sept. 1 2007.

Hazy orange beer; good off-white head. Coriander², orange blossom, ureum in the nose. Coriander, old rags, very spiced, but not peppery. Musty character, completely overshadowed by the infernal weed. Slick, and not very quaffable neither. Horrible try. Pierre, for heavens’ sake, if people like you are going to impress that Belgian equals coriander...

Bouteille 500ml.

Bottle at papsoes pre-festival tasting. Clear, copper-red body with a beige head. Tea-notes, malt and spices in the nose. The flavor has cardamom, ginger and maybe some other spices, as well as sweetness and a little roastiness. Full, sweet mouthfeel. Sweet and spiced finish. A nice one. (070510)

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of Rastacouere. Hazy, reddish amber golden with a dense, beige head. Very spicy aroma - anise I believe. Fairly full-bodied with lots of roasted malt, sweetish licorice notes and other spices - camomile? Very subdued bitterness. Pleasant. 090507

A deep dark stout with a viscous texture, and thick lacing moka head. In aroma, an herbal chocolate aroma with light alcohol warmth, and coffee notes. In mouth, sweet smooth chocolate malt balls, caramel and herbaceous hops, along with alcohol warmth. A classy stout from the crew in Charlevoix. Sampled in Feb. 2007.

A dark golden ale with a thin creamy white head. A strange aroma of pinhey hops and Vicks vaporub menthol, IPA, a sweet marraschino cherry with a good malt base, light cinnamon, and good hops. A complex and unsettling brew. On tap at Vices versa, Jan. 2007.

Bottle: Poured a deep burgundy brown color ale with a big foamy head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of anis is totally dominating but still well back by some strong malt. Taste is dominating by anis with some candi sugar. I thought the anis was a bit overwhelming and could have been more balance. Body was above average and alcohol was well hidden. Nicely done overall but a better calibration of spices would bring this to world class level.
