A passion that defies time! Let’s go back through history: it was in 1740, in Haubourdin, that my ancestor Célestin Cordonnier created his brewery. A passion that defies time! Let’s go back through history: it was in 1740, in Haubourdin, that my ancestor Célestin Cordonnier created his brewery.

Eight generations of brewers follow one another faithfully, each bringing their own touch of know-how and excellence. After 60 years of interruption, I take up the family torch with pride, and pay tribute to my grandfather and his intuition: the CÉLESTIN micro-brewery was born in 2014 in Old Lille.

Linked to almost 300 years of family brewing history, the Célestin brewery is known to be one of the region’s first micro-breweries to set up in an urban setting. It is in the heart of Old Lille that Amaury, descendant of a family of brewers, sets up his micro-brewery and a beer cellar.
Due to the success of the brewery, a second production site was opened in 2017 just outside the center of Lille.

330ml bottle from Les Bieres de Celestin bottle shop, Lille. Pours black thin tan head. Soft coffee nose, dark malt. Taste is fairly light, in a smooth pleasing way. Thin chocolate and coffee roast, distant vanilla sweetness. Could do with more oomph, more body, but i found it pleasant enough.

Bottle split at Bodney, thanks to Danny, 12/04/18. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is chocolate, light spice, trace of coffee, roast malts, dried fruits. Taste comprises toffee, cocoa powder, dark malts, spice, red berry notes, light vanilla, oak. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kick of alcohol. Sub par for the style ... sippable but a touch harsh and boozy in places.

Tap @ Brewberry, Paris. Pours a misty golden orange, small white head. Aroma has fresh floral belgian pale traits, taste is similarly fresh, flavoursome, floral, lightly spicy, citrussy. Seems from earlier comments the first few batches of this were a bit ropy, but at the moment it seems to be tasting pretty good.

Tap @ Brewberry, Paris. Pours hazy golden orange, small off-white head. Aroma has some nice pithy citrus. Taste is crisp, fresh, lightly spicy citrus with a good amount of pithy yuzu lingering about on the finish. Decent, well-balanced, refreshingly light IPA.
